Haven’t written in a while, and I just feel like I need to update this thing! April was busy to say the least – half with schoolwork and half with fun!
The highlight of the month was, hands down, my three-day weekend in NYC with Jamie. I flew up early Friday morning, we met in the city for a lunch date, and then made our way to Staten Island to stay with my amazing cousin Chris for the weekend.
Friday night was relaxing. We pretty much just spent time grubbin’ on my favorite New York pizza (!!!) and catching up with Chris, my beautiful cousin Kim, and their significant others. It was a lot of fun. My family adores Jamie, which I love.
Saturday was probably in the top five most fun days we’ve spent together. Headed to the city early afternoon and did not leave until about 2 a.m.! It was incredible. As soon as I got back to Tuscaloosa on Monday I got out a little journal and wrote down every little thing we did on Saturday; I never want to forget all of the little things that made us feel like we were both on cloud nine all day!
Sunday was Easter, and we had every intention of finding a church nearby to attend. To our disappointment there were no churches within walking distance, Chris had left for Long Island for the day, and we just felt kind of lost. Instead, I cooked up a big breakfast and we enjoyed our last few hours together before I hopped back on a plane late that afternoon. I haven’t seen him since, but I will see him next Friday when he comes to Madison. I can’t wait! He is the greatest blessing in my life & I love him very much!
Other highlights: Ashley’s ridiculously fun 21st birthday, AOII parents weekends, Jenn’s acceptance to nursing school, and being hired to work with Asbury UMC’s youth ministry this summer (which is a really cool story and SUCH a God thing!).
I went home this past weekend to find another job (haven’t worked in forever and am itching to make some money) and was hired by The Westin hotel in Bridgestreet to waitress at their super nice Sage Grill. The people there are incredible, and it sounds like it’s going to be GREAT. I start this Saturday and am excited to get rolling with it! I spent the rest of the weekend enjoying much needed time with my parents. I LOVE THEM! Sunday night we sat out on our little covered breezeway area and ate dinner while I POURED around us. Talked a lot about my future plans and it feels really good to have their support with my major, my relationship, etc.
I had heavily debated going home this weekend, but God gave me an INCREDIBLE and unexpected opportunity to Amberlee and me at church on Sunday that definitely showed me why I needed to go home! He’s got some plans to use me in the near future financially, and I am ridiculously excited to give an update in a few weeks about how this challenge goes.
My 18-hour semester is coming to a close in about 38 hours – one more paper due and one more final to take! Friday I’ll be on my way to Madison until July 29th. Couldn’t be more excited about my jobs, being with my family, my friends from home, and time with Jamie in July. Definitely going to miss my college friends though. Already cried about it last night. It’s only three months but they’re like family. I know the time will fly until August!
Back to writing my paper. Yuck.
Hi! I’m a proud Army wife and mom to two little girls (ages 1 and 4), and I love sharing our lives with you. I blog all about motherhood, our time in the military, our travels, our meals, my fitness journey, my fashion favorites, and so much more. I truly enjoy sharing it all! I can’t get enough of birthday cake ice cream, weekend sunrise runs, or making my girls belly-laugh. I write almost daily about my family’s lives, and though I like to keep things light, I also share the messy parts too. Welcome! So glad to have you around. I’m active on Facebook and Instagram and would love to communicate with you there!
