We’ve set the date! On Saturday, June 2, 2012, I will happily become Mrs. Jamie DeSpain. HOORAY!
I never thought I’d be one to have a 23 month engagement, but waiting is really our only option.
Reasons for a LONG engagement:
-Jamie’s dad is deploying this August for a 12-month tour. Obviously his dad has to be at our wedding.
-My sister is getting married on May 28, and she and Josh deserve the spotlight without being overlapped by our wedding. Plus, I’m her MOH and will be plenty busy with parties and other duties.
-Jamie is deploying early to mid 2011 for a year, which will put him at getting back February 2012. He’ll move to Fort Campbell in Clarksville, Tennessee, get situated with housing, and be able to help with the last three months of planning and preparations. I’ll also have just finished my second year of teaching, which will be very valuable for finding a job in TN. We’ll both be able to save a ton of money over the next couple years and are excited about starting out our marriage on the right track financially. We’ll go on our honeymoon after the wedding and then start our lives together in Tennessee. Life is good.
Though I’m going to go crazy missing Jamie while he’s deployed, we both agree that I’ll be in the best situation to deal with it! I’ll be living at home with the company of my wonderful parents, I’ll be busy with my sister’s wedding, I’ll be busy with my OWN wedding, and at some point I’d like to start grad school classes online. The busier I’ll be, the faster the deployment will go by and we can get hitched!
I don’t really have a ‘dream’ wedding in mind, but I just know that I want it to be FUN! My main focus will be on having everyone that Jamie and I love there. SAVE THE DATE! 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
