wow wow wow wow wow wow WOW! So much has been happening the last few days, and every bit of it has been extremely exciting.
Last week was long. We had orientation every morning, and I worked in my classroom all afternoon. I stayed most days until at least 5. One day I strolled in the door about 7:30. I met about half of my students and their parents Friday night and then zipped home to change clothes and pick up Jamie at the airport. He was supposed to get in a 10 but didn’t end up getting into Huntsville until 11:15. I didn’t really mind that much because I was actually enjoying the time to breathe, relax, and play on my new iPhone. Ha! I also watched a soldier come home to be greeted by his little son, wife, and in-laws. Everyone was crying and taking pictures. It was wonderful and made me so excited and ready for Jamie to get home from his upcoming deployment.
Saturday was a whirlwind but was so much fun! In a nutshell, we got up at 4 a.m., headed to Tuscaloosa, I walked across the stage while being cheered on by my family and Jamie’s family, took some pictures, and then went to Brio in Birmingham to eat a late lunch. When we got back to Madison, Jamie and I zipped over to my new principal’s house for a cookout. I was a tad nervous about it because I really don’t know people very well yet, but we ended up having so much fun! Jamie met another West Point grad and a few military guys from Texas A&M, so he had plenty of company for the night while I mingled with all my new co-workers. Everyone is absolutely fabulous, and they even had a little celebration for my graduation… “You are OFFICIAL now!”. 🙂
Jamie had to fly out at 5 p.m. Sunday, so we woke up early and I took him out to lunch down in Huntsville before showing him THE LEDGES! Though we don’t have our deposit money down YET, our name is on the calendar for June 2nd, 2012, and we are so excited! We are planning to have our wedding actually at The Ledges, and then everyone will head inside for a night of fun. I absolutely love our venue, and Jamie LOVED it as well. It made everything very real for him, and now he’s even more excited to get married! What more could a girl ask for than to constantly hear how excited her fiance is to get married?
Oh yeah. I started teaching yesterday. No big deal. My kids are amazing, the administration is second to none, and I couldn’t ask for a better place to start. Every time I sit at my desk as the students work on something independently I just kind of have to pinch myself. They are MY students, doing MY assignments, and being completely respectful. I just love it. I know that I’m going to be exhausted all year, but I’m just thankful to have a job that I love!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
