Anyone who knows me well knows that I happily spend more money on traveling than I do ANYTHING else. With the help of summer jobs and relaxed parents, I was fortunate to travel quite a bit in college with Jamie and with my friends. Now that I actually make my own moolah, traveling has gotten a little bit easier and a lot more fun!
I ran around like crazy the last two weeks, and I loved every bit of it.
On October 1st, I flew home from work, threw some clothes in a bag, and met 14 friends at Iguana Grill in Ttown. Nothing like seeing college best friends to recharge your batteries!!! Love and miss you girls so much!!
Friday I stayed with Ash and Saturday I stayed with Mal. I landed a free ticket to the game (quite the story), sat on the 6th row 30 yard line with Hannah, and smiled the WHOLE way through Bama’s victory over Florida. I can’t lie though – standing just yards from Urban Meyer for three hours was kind of exciting. We chowed down on Big Bag Wolves after the game then CRASHED at Mal’s apartment. I drove Hannah to the airport Sunday morning and then zipped home to get ready for my next adventure: MENTONE!
I showed up at work Monday morning (6:30 to be exact!) and awaited 57 14 year olds for our three day, two night annual 8th grade retreat. We headed to Camp Alpine in Mentone, Alabama and had a blast. Seriously. While the kids enjoyed zip lining and high and low ropes courses for two days, the adults enjoyed sitting on a porch by a fireplace crying laughing as we told stories for three hours. The BEST set of parent chaperones came along with us 8th grade teachers, and it was so much fun to get to know some of the parents behind my students. My kids thoroughly enjoyed watching Miss Olsen strap on a harness and go zip lining through the forest. I’m sure I screamed louder than they did! To top it off, I fell asleep both nights as every girl giggled and shared about all the boys they had crushes on. SO funny. I’m already anxious for next year!
We arrived back at St. John’s at noon, ran to get my nails done, unpacked and then repacked for adventure #3 – ARIZONA! My flight left at 4:50, so needless to say I was just a tad bit exhausted! Flights went smoothly, got a cab to my hotel, and crashed around 10 pacific time. Jamie was in the field doing Land Navigation training until Thursday afternoon, so I officially dubbed Thursday a much-needed ‘ME’ day. This ‘me’ day equaled sleeping in, going for a run, laying by the pool, napping, and taking a cab to 4th Ave. to go shopping! Jamie met me around 7 and we enjoyed a good outdoor pizza place and beer. 🙂
The rest of the weekend included our more exploring of The University of Arizona (gorgeous, incredible school!), taking our engagement pictures (whoop!!), eating dinner at The Melting Pot, watching football, touring a cave, and hosting a cookout for Jamie’s friends.
I thoroughly enjoyed the last two weeks but not just because I was running around like crazy, but because I got to spend so much time with so many of my favorite people.
This weekend I’m packing again. Heading to the beach with Mary E! For now, I’ll enjoy and soak up a few days with mom, dad, and my dogs. =)
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
