Our Monday has been pretty routine today, but having my BFF Amberlee here for day #3 of her Arizona visit makes the start of this week extra sweet. We squeezed in a T25 workout this morning, she entertained Hadley while I worked on some laundry, and now we’re both just relaxing and half-watching a DVRed episode of Dr. Phil. We packed the weekend running around, so lounging around the house today sounded great to both of us.
There’s nothing fancy about Sierra Vista, but having visitors here has been a lot of fun the last few months. We’re neighbors to two quirky little towns (Bisbee and Tombstone), we’re completely surrounded by a beautiful mountain landscape, and our weather is pretty great if you can handle the heat. Temps have been in the 90s for a couple of weeks, but no humidity makes those high temps totally manageable. The evenings usually cool down to the 60s, so sitting outside at night is really pleasant. Since we really have no water around here, we also don’t have the bugs! Throw in the nightly breeze and a glass of wine, and you have a pretty perfect night. I think I can handle this place for 2.5 more months.
Back to the weekend! Our highlight was an hour-long guided horseback ride yesterday at the stables on Fort Huachuca. I’d been to these stables back in 2010 when I visited Jamie out here during his BOLC course, and I’d looked forward to going riding again at some point while we’re out here. Below are a couple of pictures from September 2010 right after we both graduated from college.
Amberlee lit up like a Christmas tree when I asked her if horseback riding was something she’d be interested in doing while she’s out, so going back with her was a great decision.
Amberlee flies back tomorrow (boohoo), so besides that quick trip to Tucson to drop her off our week should be pretty quiet.
Side note – I’ve been working on this short post on and off for five hours because unlike I mentioned in the first paragraph, today has turned out to be anything but normal! Hadley’s first two teeth broke through about five weeks ago, but teething is back again and in FULL FORCE. Full force as in my 6.5 month old has only taken one 20 minute nap today. Really just hoping that these top two teeth burst through her gums quickly!
Have a wonderful week!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
