The last few days we’ve been vacationing in our own state at a resort just 93 miles from our driveway in a little city called Oro Valley.
The stars really aligned for this little getaway to work out! My dad’s company’s headquarters is out here in Tucson, so a few months ago he started playing with the idea of working out here for a couple of weeks so that he could visit us without having to take time off of work. Once he realized that his office would be about 75 minutes from our house, we started thinking about other options. My parents had a couple of weeks banked from their timeshare that they needed to use or lose, so my dad decided to book a timeshare a few miles north of Tucson. My mom also planned on coming out here because she works at a hospital and has a fairly flexible schedule.
On Saturday, my parents landed in Tucson for a full two weeks! We drove up to Oro Valley for the weekend and loved exploring the resort. Jamie and I immediately started scratching any plans we had of hosting people at our house in Sierra Vista because we wanted to really max out our time at the resort.
Sadly, Jamie had to drive back home Sunday night for work, but Hadley and I stayed until yesterday afternoon. Dad had to work during the day, so mom and I spent the majority of our time swimming, shopping, and relaxing. Hadley loved the pool, I scored big time on some staple items at J. Crew, and the daily evening rain gave us the perfect excuse to relax at night. It’s been unexpectedly wonderful.
The icing on the cake so far was sipping a glass of wine with Mom while watching The Bachelor Monday night. The sun was setting over the mountains and Dad and Hadley were crawling all over the floor together. Monday was a sweet night for sure.
My sister and brother-in-law fly in later this week, so we’ll be heading back up to Oro Valley in a couple days to spend all weekend together. We haven’t seen Josh since Christmas 2012, so we’re pumped to see him! Hadley also can’t wait to meet her Uncle Josh. If only my brother were able to make it, we’d have all of the Olsen family puzzle pieces in place.
Switching gears completely, I finally got with the program and joined BlogLovin! If you’re not familiar with this website and app, let me catch you up to speed! BlogLovin.com is a free site that lets you search for blogs that interest you and then groups new posts into a form of a newsfeed. I religiously follow about 10 blogs, and before I discovered BlogLovin I had to go to each individual blog to check for updates. With BlogLovin, all I had to do was search for my favorite blogs, follow them, and ta-da! Their new posts show right up on one page! It rocks. I’ve also discovered a few new blogs through this site that I’m loving already!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
