On Friday we loaded up the Jeep and headed two hours east to Kansas City to celebrate Christmas and Jamie’s birthday with his parents. We really had the best weekend!
We got to their place around 4 p.m., and we were stunned at how beautifully they’d decorated for Christmas! Everything looked gorgeous from the inside out. She had some snacks for us to devour nibble on for a few hours while we waited for my FIL to get home from work.
We enjoyed a great meal, put on some comfy Christmas jams, and got ready to exchange gifts.
We’d asked for mainly educational toys/games for Hadley for Christmas, and that’s exactly what she got! The big hit of the weekend was the Cozy Coup “Princess Edition” car. She’s already played with it for hours!
On Saturday the guys took Hadley for a few hours and my MIL and I enjoyed a day of running around. She put me on her Costco card membership (!!!), so we had to run up there so I could get my picture taken for my card. She also treated me to a much-needed mani/pedi (It’s embarrassing how long it’s been since I’ve had one. Long time.) before swinging by Gigi’s Cupcakes and picking up a dozen for Jamie’s birthday.
Once we got back to their place, we quickly refreshed, got Hadley changed, and were out the door for a dinner reservation at Sullivan’s Steakhouse. Words can’t touch how amazing that restaurant is! It was the best meal we’ve had in a while, and they really spoiled Jamie for his birthday! They had a birthday card waiting on the table for him and let him pick out any birthday dessert he wanted (he went with the s’mores pie – yum). They also came by to take our picture and had it printed out in a signed “frame” five minutes later. We highly recommend Sullivan’s!
Saturday night we crashed hard back at their house (I’m pretty sure I fell asleep on the couch before 9!), hung around the house a little bit Sunday morning, and got back on the road to head home to tackle a big to-do list to get this house in order before Olsen family Christmas at our house this week! Hooray!
Hope you had a great weekend too and are gearing up for a fun week with family and friends. I have a few projects that I can’t wait to share with you after the holidays, so stick around. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
