Getting Started on our Master Bedroom

Hey friends! Happy New Year! Popping in real quick to give our first master bedroom update.

For months this is what our bedroom looked like. I’ve been slow to touch our room because I just couldn’t put my finger on what look I wanted to go for.

A few weeks ago we were at my friend Meg’s house, and I fell in love with her open concept living room/kitchen wall color. It was the perfect shade of true timeless gray, and she thankfully rounded up the name of it for me – Sherwin William’s “Dorian Gray”.

I knew this color would look great in my bedroom, so after receiving a SW gift card for Christmas, Jamie ran over there a few days ago and picked up a couple gallons on Dorian Gray in a satin cashmere finish.

My sister offered to roll while I cut in, and (no kidding) we had the entire room prepped, painted, and put back together in four hours. Maybe a few minutes less.

Side note: This is the only room in the house (well, and the attached master bath) that already had white trim. I’m thankful I could skip the trim work for this update!

Since this color is darker and the cashmere finish is thicker, we quickly realized that a second coat wasn’t going to be necessary. All we did was go back and touch up areas where the yellow peeked through.

We’re playing around with furniture arrangements, but right now we like this one a little bit better; it feels so much more roomy.
The lighting in the picture above makes the color look a little deeper than it actually is, so I snapped the picture below with my iPhone to give you a better idea of the true color. It’s really beautiful!
I’ve been pinning away tons of ideas for this room, so I’m excited that painting the walls is out of the way. I have white blinds on backorder from JCPenney, and I’m so ready for them to get here so we can replace those old brown ones. I’m so looking forward to how our room is going to evolve!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
