Travel Day to NYC for BlogHer2015

Popping in from New York City today! Ahh. I’m just pinching myself that I’m here and am so looking forward to soaking up every single experience here at the BlogHer conference the next three days. I have SO much to learn and feel fortunate to have the chance to attend this festive event.

My hotel/the conference location is just a few blocks from Central Park, so I packed a couple days worth of workout clothes so that I could take advantage of some early morning runs. I got back just a little bit ago from my first one of the trip, and it felt great to get out there!

The only other time I’ve run around Central Park was with my dad five years ago for Jamie’s West Point graduation, and for some reason that run is one of my favorite memories my dad and I have shared together.
Before things officially kick off in a few hours with the conference I figured I’d stop in and say hello! I left home yesterday around 11 a.m. to make the two hour drive east to Kansas City. I made it to the airport with plenty of time to spare but was quickly updated that my flight was delayed 90 minutes. The KC airport thankfully has free Wifi, so I connected to it and played catch up with some emails and other things I’ve been meaning to do.
When we finally boarded around 4:00 I quickly got comfortable with Go Set a Watchman and  thoroughly enjoyed the peace and quiet. I had a couple of free drink tickets that I’ve been holding onto for a flight that I didn’t have Hadley, so I took advantage of getting a glass of wine and sipping it while reading. HAPPY GIRL.

I sat by a super nice mom and daughter duo who were heading to NYC for their daughter’s college orientation, so I enjoyed talking with them as well.
I was a little anxious about navigating from the airport to my hotel, but I ended up taking a bus into Manhattan and a subway from there that took me just a couple blocks from where I needed to be. After I checked in, I dropped my stuff in my room and immediately went on a serious hunt for pizza! By this point it was after 9 p.m., and I was ready to eat! I found Ray’s down the street and opted for a hearty slice of three-meat pizza. It didn’t disappoint!

I have a roommate for the conference who I didn’t get to meet until late last night, but she’s super cool and I’m so glad to “know” somebody before diving head first into the crowd later today.
Of course it can be assumed that I’m missing my girl like crazy, but I know she’s having a great time with Jamie’s parents this week (they’re staying at our house and watching her during the day since Jamie’s working too)! My MIL sent me this picture yesterday afternoon – what a life!

I’ll see you back here tomorrow! Have a great Thursday!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
