During nap time a few days later I rummaged through my spray paint collection and thought that a pop of yellow would be a fun edition to the bathroom. I love Rust-Oleum spray paints!
A couple coats later this cheap-o project was ready to add to the bathroom. I really like it!
Though she has a zillion books all over the house, the only books that are staying on the kitchen table are her library books we’ve been picking up each week. She loves climbing on the bench to browse through them, and we love having them separated from her other books and “safe” from toddler harm on the table.
A couple weeks ago I told Jamie that I wanted to venture over to an area just outside of town called Pillsbury Crossing, so we loaded up our kids (the blonde one and the furry one) and headed out! It was a gorgeous morning for wading in the shallow water and doing a little bit of people watching. I’ve heard that this place often brings a rowdy crowd in the afternoons and evenings, so checking it out in the morning was a good idea. 😉
I’m in LOVE with Periscope! I don’t really have much to broadcast, but I’ve really been enjoying watching broadcasts from the people I follow and other people we find through the global list option. It was so fun a couple weeks ago to hang out in the kitchen chopping up sweet potato bites on a Sunday afternoon and be able to watch a live Hillsong United concert at the same time (via Jenn Hatmaker). Jamie and I are huge fans of the global option and really enjoy watching broadcasts from people all over the world at random times. Feel free to follow me at @WhimsicalSeptember.
After two years of storing Hadley’s bows in a bin, I finally got around to making her a bow holder! I’ve seen a ton of them for sale around town for $10-$20, but I knew that I could make one for free with materials I already had at home in my craft bin. Two long strands of ribbon, a couple sticks of hot glue, and 10 minutes later this thing was ready to hang!
Have you ever tried the food delivery service Blue Apron? We tried it for two weeks and loved five out of six of the meals. We’re not going to continue right now because I can make our own meals cheaper, but it was definitely something fun to try and something we’re open to doing again. This was our favorite meal: a Mexican chicken torta sandwich with a cucumber, tomato, red onion, and apple cider vinaigrette.
Family move night on the living room floor with pillows, blankets, and a DVRd Despicable Me.
The last few weeks I’ve really enjoyed getting in a some exercise in the morning by running or walking a loop or two around a local park’s trail. Bonus points for when I’ve been in a company of a friend! Hadley is a huge fan of stroller runs, so she loves it. There’s a playground there as well that she always gets to play at when momma’s done exercising. Win-win for everyone.
Monday afternoon family doughnut date at Varsity. She was totally occupied with the Bananagrams game while Jamie and I knocked out some puzzles.
Somebody loves City Park! I can’t imagine how big it looks to her when she’s running to it.
I snuck this picture last week when Hadley and a bunch of kids spent the evening running around a friend’s backyard and jumping on the trampoline while their momma’s had some girl time at a jewelry party. I loved watching Hadley be one of the kids and explore her independence a bit. She had such a blast and slept really hard that night!
I love my little shopping buddy, and she loves peanut butter crackers!
Hadley is super into baby dolls right now, so she was tickled when a real life “be-be” came over to play last week. 😉
I loved watching Hadley interact with Madison and it made me excited for when she’s a big sister someday!
My girl loooooooves “cream”. 🙂
Her hair is growing and fast! Finally! Jamie and I were dying over her first pigtails.
On Saturday Jamie and I snuck away for the whole day for a big date while his parents babysat Hadley. We ran around Kansas City’s Schlitterbahn waterpark for a few hours before quickly changing and throwing my hair up so that we could run around and party it up at places like Ikea and Costco. 😉
We finished the night over in the Crossroads district at an Austrian restaurant called Grünauer. Perfect day except for getting my first mild sunburn of the season. Ouch! Our waterproof sunblock didn’t hold up too well at the waterpark for either of us. Y’all know how crazy paranoid I am about my skin ever since that skin cancer scare.
Food coma!
This is my absolute favorite picture from this Slice of Life post. On our way home from Kansas City yesterday we heard Hadley start screaming, and this is what I saw when I turned around! Teddy had never done this before, but for some reason he got a wild hair and decided to climb in Hadley’s lap and block her view of Frozen. He did it again about five minutes later. We were dying laughing! So funny! We think he wanted to snuggle on her blanket.

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
