One of my absolute favorite parts of being a parent is beginning to recreate some of my favorite childhood memories with my own little family. My parents are often surprised when I tell them the things I fondly remember because they didn’t view the activities as any big deal, but some of the smaller things were often the most fun! From October specifically I remember visiting the pumpkin patch (climbing the hay bales was my favorite part – they seemed huge!), trick or treating with all of our neighborhood friends, and finally BOO’ing all of our friends and neighbors!
I haven’t created a BOO kit in years and years, but this year the three of us took about 20 minutes to create some fun little treat bags for our neighbors! I think there’s something so innocent and fun about opening your front door to something happy on your porch, so I was pumped to start this fun October tradition on our street!
In my opinion BOO’ing people is much more about the act than what’s actually in the treat, so we went simple and picked up some teeny monster-themed 8oz. A&W and 7UP® cans (located in the soda aisle towards the back of Walmart) and one big bag of Mars mixed mini candy bars (SNICKERS®, TWIX®, MILKY WAY®, 3 MUSKETEERS®), also from Walmart (in the Halloween section).
We filled about six Halloween-themed cellophane bags with soda cans (two per bag) and a handful of candy.
Save $1.00 on two (2) 2L or 6pk 8oz. cans of any Sunkist® Soda, 7UP®, Canada Dry®, A&W®, Squirt®, or Sun Drop® by clicking here.
Next we visited this website to print the double-sides sheets of paper that we attached to the bag. One side says “You’ve been BOO’d!” and explains what exactly is going on, and the back of the paper says “We’ve been BOO’d!” for people to hang on their door so future BOO’ers know that one’s house has been BOO’d already.
First you’ll cut out the “We’ve been BOO’d” sign and then fold the “You’ve been BOO’d” greeting card (page 2) and tape openings together. Include the card and sign when gifting BOO bundles.
If you want to give this tradition a whirl on your street or with your friends you can visit this website to print out the cards. Feel free to put your treats in any kind of bucket or bag – anything works! The website also includes lots of fun ideas for BOO’ing your friends!

Let’s chat!
Did you ever participate in BOO’ing people when you were a kid?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
