Besides potty training and attempting to get back in somewhat of our old routines, things have been pretty quiet around here. Here’s what we’ve been up to the last 10 days or so!
The night before we left Alabama my best friend Amberlee and her husband Brandon came to hang with us for a couple hours at my parent’s house, and Hadley was attached to Amberlee the whole time. We were all really happy to see that Hadley is finally starting to show that she remembers some of my closest friends and wants to be with them. Amberlee is due with her baby in just four weeks, so saying goodbye was a little strange. Life won’t be the same the next time I see her. She’ll be plus one. 🙂
If you following along with me on Facebook (which you totally should!), you may have seen this little hack for Christmas cards that I posted a couple weeks ago. Growing up, my mom and her mom used to cut out images from Christmas cards once they were taken down from being on display and recycle them for the following year to use as gift tags. She’d hole punch the card and stick a little string on it. I thought it was the most brilliant idea and such a fun craft to do with children.
This guy. He kills me. He could not have been more comfortable or relaxed if he tried. He rode like this the entire 800 miles back to Kansas. It’s SO HARD being a rescued Chihuahua-Pug. Before us, he had no idea life could be this good. 😉
Did you notice all of the devastating rain through Missouri on the news last week? We missed the flooding by maybe an hour. We drove through torrential rain for nearly seven hours, and state troopers and emergency workers were already shutting down the interstate heading the opposite direction when we were passing through St. Louis due to flooding on the interstate. The heavy rain made for excellent sleeping weather for this little diva though.
I can’t take my eyes off of her for two seconds these days. Within an hour of getting back home I found her in the sink, and I have no idea why. I was putting stuff away in her room and found her like this when I went to investigate what she was up to. She was laughing hysterically because she knew she was doing something she shouldn’t. Two year olds. Good grief. (pssst: I love snapchat! You can find me @WhimsicalSeptember)
I was pleasantly surprised to find this on my porch last week! I attended a party hosted by Happy Family Brands at the BlogHer conference last summer, and they’ve continued spoiling their attendees. My jaw fell on the floor when I opened this box and found these goodies of organic fruit and vegetable pouches for my girls. What a true gift! Thank you times a million Happy Family!
My dad was only here for a couple of days before he headed back to Alabama, but he knocked out a ton of stuff while he was here, which included painting baby girl’s bedroom! The plans in my head for her nursery include a backdrop of white walls, so we painted her room Behr’s “Bakery Box”. I’m obsessed with how crisp and clean it came out! I’ll share more pictures of her room in the coming months as I slowly find the things I’m looking for to decorate her room with.
Last year this girl hated the snow, so her adorable snowsuit and snow boots went to waste. This year we haven’t gotten her much snow gear yet because we weren’t sure if she’d want to spend much time playing in it. After one day of being outside in the snow, it’s safe to say we have a little snow bunny on our hands. 🙂 After 45 minutes of playing in our first snow last week, she kicked and screamed when I forced her inside. We were both about to turn into icicles, but she didn’t care! My dad and I were cracking up as we watched her eat the snow. Nobody taught her to do that!
The first day I was home I ran out to a local mattress store and snagged her a brand new mattress for her big girl bed, and she’s adjusted quite well! I still need to freshen up her bed with a coat of paint and find some pretty bedding that will match her room, but for now she’s so happy to have more space to sprawl out!
We spent New Years Eve in comfy clothes hanging out at my friend Faith’s house eating pizza and desserts. I love this picture she snapped of me and my girl snuggling on the couch. Look at that 24 week belly!
Here are Faith and me with our little princesses a couple hours before the ball dropped. 🙂
Organizing and decluttering is one of my favorite things to do, but I got a little overwhelmed when I started sorting through all of Hadley’s old clothes to get them better organized for baby #2. When Hadley started outgrowing her clothes I used space bags to store them away, and two years later all of her old clothes are spread out in a million bags. I had six month clothes with 2T clothes, and things just needed to get organized! I bought 10 rubbermaids at Target a couple days ago and went crazy getting everything properly sorted. Whew!
And that’s our little slice of life here in good ‘ole Kansas. 🙂
PS: Who’s watching Netflix’s Making a Murderer series?! I’M ADDICTED! You have to watch it!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
