Though we haven’t done anything big worth writing home about lately, I’ve really enjoyed soaking up time with my little sidekick – occasional toddler tantrums and all. 🙂 Here’s a more lengthy slice of our lives from the last 10 days or so!
We were so excited to see a florist van pull up with Valentines sweetness for Hadley and me from Jamie. She’s been bringing her new bear with her to bed every night. We love you, J!
Hadley woke up in a very happy mood on Valentines Day, so I snapped this quick picture of her while we were lying around in Sadie’s nursery before heading to church. 🙂
Hadley looked like she was dressed for Wacky Tacky day at school on Tuesday when I picked her up (I took this picture below of her outfit once we got home). She’d apparently had three accidents in three hours and went through both sets of spare clothes I always send with her to school. Her teachers had to resort to putting a pull-up on her and a spare pair of their pants! I was pretty shocked because she hadn’t had an accident at school in over a month, so nobody really knows why she fell apart that day. I’ve heard from many people to expect accidents to still occasionally happen, but I was still caught off guard for some reason. I held my breath as I went to pick her up on Thursday, and thankfully she was still in the same clothes I sent her in. Whew!
During our monthly craft time at MOPS on Tuesday I got to try my hand at my first adult coloring page. We enjoyed about 30 minutes of casual chit chat around our small-group tables while each of us worked on our pages, and it was a really fun way to spend the morning. This particular page is from a book called and is available on Amazon.
Apparently I’ve been on a candle-burning kick because I burned through this large Bath and Body Works one in about six weeks! My mom gave it to me from her candle stash when I was home for the holidays, so I snapped this picture to send to her to show her how fast I burned it up. I love lighting strong-smelling candles in the afternoons while Hadley is sleeping and I’m cleaning. A house that smells good puts me in a better mood!
I gave Hadley a new coloring book and her tub of crayons to keep her busy while I cooked dinner one night, and she looked so sweet plopped down in the sunroom focused on coloring.
Have you heard of Boxed? I’d seen a couple of people post about it on Facebook but didn’t know what it was. I got a coupon in the mail with a discount code to try it out, so I played on their website and gave it a shot by ordering things I currently had on my grocery list. It’s basically a home-delivery wholesale bulk site, and I supposedly saved $37 off retail price on the four items below. If you want to browse their site, you can used the code PW46Z to get $10 off of your first order (I would also get a small credit to my account if you use this affiliate code – thanks in advance!).
Hadley got her first bouquet of flowers from a boy that wasn’t her daddy or one of her grandpas! They’re from Jack for Valentines Day. 🙂 Love that Meg & Chris are teaching him to be a little gentleman already!
We love morning playdates with the sweet Laird girls! Hadley and Lauren (in the gray shirt) are only five days apart and were born in the same hospital. 🙂 This is rare for military families!
Basement bathroom tile is going in TODAY! So excited! I’ll be back with an update next week. 🙂 See ya never, linoleum! In case you missed it, you can check out my last bathroom update here.
After I picked out the tile from Menards last week, Hadley and I swung into the new Dunkin Donuts for a quick treat. 🙂 She picked out a doughnut with chocolate icing and sprinkles (shocker) and went to town on it!
$2 well spent for a quick date with my girl!
Everybody knows that Middle East deployments give soldiers exactly zero days off for months on end, but Jamie and his buddies got the chance to visit a beach resort last week! He had the best time enjoying a bit of normalcy and sent me a bunch of pictures. I was happy that he got the chance to kick back a bit. He’s such a stud!
You can imagine my shock when I was scrolling my newsfeed last Friday night and saw my family’s faces show up next to the TODAY show icon! They’d shared one of my posts that I’d submitted months ago, and I was tickled pink! I’ve never had my writing broadcasted on that large of a platform before, so I was really excited. 🙂 Thanks for all of the love you left on my Facebook page Friday night after I posted about it!
On Saturday we scooped up my dear friend Kelsey and ventured about 30 minutes away to get a Cracker Barrel fix! After a big breakfast we found a local park to let Hadley run around at so that we could be outside to enjoy the beautiful spring-like weather. Such a pretty weekend!
On Saturday night Hadley and I put on dresses and joined the Landers for dinner at a hibachi restaurant. Somehow I’m already 31 weeks pregnant, and it’s blowing my mind. I’m definitely filling out this maternity dress a bit more than I was the last time I wore it to Amberlee’s baby shower. I got it in my last fix from Stitch Fix back in December.
Meg & I are both kind of obsessed with this picture. Good job snapping quick, Chris. 🙂 Jack is definitely in a phase where he loves to hug Hadley, and though Hadley smiles when he does it, she’s not super into hugging him back. We love doing life with these friends!
On Sunday after church we enjoyed cupcakes at the park to spoil our lunch and celebrate Meg’s birthday!
On Sunday afternoon we attempted to skip Hadley’s nap and attend our first rodeo!
Hadley absolutely LOVED it! As soon as we walked into the arena she started screaming about the horses! It as definitely the reaction I hoped she’d have.
We found some friends when we were parking, so we were happy to walk in and sit with the Flynns!
After about 45 minutes she started getting a bit slap-happy and fidgety, so we called the rodeo a success and headed home to catch a late nap. She was snoring by the time we pulled into the driveway a few minutes later.
And that’s our most recent slice of life. 🙂 I hope you have a great Monday!
Let’s chat!
Have ever tried your hand at an adult coloring book as a stress reliever? It’s pretty awesome! Have you heard of Boxed? Would you try it?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
