Good morning! One more day until the weekend and we are ready! My father-in-law flies in tomorrow night from Austin (my MIL is already here as you know), and I know Hadley is going to love waking up Saturday morning and seeing him.
Here’s a slice of our lives from the last week or so!
This girl turned one month old on the 18th! She’s a little piglet and gaining weight really well considering she was smaller at birth (6 lb 11 oz).
One of Jamie’s favorite parts of having girls is getting to put big bows in their hair, so he had an issue with this tiny headband I chose for her first month picture. 😉 In reality, this was the only headband that fit her since her head is still so little! Ha!
I snapped this picture to send to my friend Julie after she brought us dinner one night last week. Hadley was devouring it, which is rare for her (you guys know we struggle with getting her to eat.) Several of my girlfriends from MOPS brought us meals last week, and it was a huge blessing. Huge. (Shout out to Julie, Whitney, Denise, Rachael, and Sarah – I love y’all!) Even with having my MIL here, she’s been so busy sun up to sun down helping me with the girls and around the house, so having friends gift our crew with meals with so generous and appreciated. It really opened my eyes to how much something as simple as a meal can mean to a new mom.
Last Friday a couple girlfriends and I snuck away for dinner and drinks, and it was definitely a picture-worthy couple of hours. Kelsey (bottom left) was celebrating her last day of work and Shannon and I were just enjoying a few hours away from our babies (she also has two that are spaced similar to Hadley and Sadie). Both of their guys are also deployed, so getting away is rare these days! I’m so thankful for “battle buddies” and effortless friendships like these!
Sadie and I are still getting plenty of use out of the Moby wrap! I think it’s going to be a little too warm to use this summer, but for now it’s working out well.
My MIL is doing a fabulous job keeping Hadley busy and happy! I snapped this picture during one of our walks last week.
A couple times recently we’ve grabbed food to go and headed to a park for lunch and dinner. I love this because it puts check marks in several boxes: Hadley gets to play, everybody gets to eat, and we all get some fresh air.
Hadley’s favorite things to say when she sees Sadie are “Aw hi babe!” and “Oh boo-tiful!” It totally melts me! More: Sadie’s nursery tour!
Another Army wife tipped me off to this energy boost, and it’s become my newest obsession! I don’t like coffee, but I definitely need a caffeine boost throughout the day. Mixing La Croix (any flavor) and Orange Spark is delicious!
This Boppy pillow is such a life saver! I didn’t have one with Hadley since I didn’t breastfeed, but it’s incredible not only for breastfeeding but also just for having her take little snoozes when she wants to be near me. Worth every penny!
Hadley adores the heck out of these two sisters, Lauren and Kate! They are my good friend Sarah’s girls, and seeing Hadley play with them always makes me SO happy! You can tell by Hadley’s face that she loved having them over for a few hours recently. 🙂
On Monday I finally was able to break away and get my hair touched up! My roots were driving me bananas. 🙂 Both times that I’ve left for a couple hours I just pumped a bottle right beforehand that my MIL fed to Sadie. Thankfully she’s been taking bottles like a champ when she gets them on occasion!
My phone is embarrassingly full of selfies like this. Sadie and I spend so much time on the couch feeding (and then often snoozing), and I really can’t get enough of her snuggles. I’ve tried to slow down much more with Sadie than I did with Hadley, and though I haven’t been getting much done lately, I’m really enjoying the downtime with my girlies.
I often talk on here about our great buddies the Landers (Meg, Chris, and Jack), and as you may remember, Meg and I recently went through nearly our entire pregnancies together. Here are our beautiful products! 🙂 They’re four weeks apart and so precious. It’s crazy how four weeks is such a huge difference right now since they’re so tiny, but we know that gap is going to continue to get smaller and smaller. It’s going to be so fun watching these girls grow together over the next couple of years that we’re in Kansas!
Major event not pictured: MASTITIS. Oh my word. I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. On Tuesday morning I felt the symptoms coming on strong and quick, and by 3 p.m. I was an absolute wreck. Thankfully my OBGYN called in a prescription over the phone since I met every bit of the criteria for this infection, and 48 hours later I thankfully feel 100% better. For 24 hours of so I thought I actually might die though. I have never had chills like that in my life. Whew! Not for the faint of heart. Word to the wise: If you feel the symptoms coming on (high fever, chills, headache, tender breasts, red blotch on one breast in particular), call your doc and get that medicine started PRONTO!
I hope you have a nice Memorial Day weekend! XOXO
PS: Don’t forget to check back in tomorrow for the Old Spice toolbox giveaway! Whoop whoop!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
