Slice of Life – October 11th, 2016

Well hello there Tuesday! I hope this finds you well in your neck of the woods. Popping in today with another “Slice of Life” from the last week or so that’s as random as they usually are. 🙂 Hope you enjoy!

First things first: I now understand why everyone is wearing lately. In all seriousness, I think I’ve worn them every single day for two weeks! I tried them on spontaneously while strolling the mall recently, decided I probably didn’t need them, but then rushed back to the store an hour later to make them mine.

I knew I needed a good pair of casual “run around” shoes for the fall, so these put a perfect checkmark in that box. I love throwing them on with casual dresses, cuffed jeans, or athletic pants. Worth every penny! Also: I bought from Walmart to wear with them, and they’re fantastic. Run to Walmart! They have little gel grippers in them that keep them low on the back of your foot. These socks + these shoes = dreamy combo.

Last week I was out to dinner with a couple girlfriends during a massive thunderstorm, and this is the picture I got from Jamie after Hadley’s bath time. She was snuggled up in our bed, and look who couldn’t be any closer to her! He rarely gets this close to her (unless she has food), so we knew poor Ted was a wreck. Hadley to the rescue. 🙂

I think Sadie really enjoyed our little outing to our local Discovery Center last week! I met another mom there like me with two small kids, and we were joking about how much more of an advantage our infants have than our firsts when it comes to outings like this. With Hadley, I probably would have never taken her at five months old to a place like this because of how little she was (I would have viewed it as semi pointless), but now Sadie gets to start this stuff sooner since I’m taking Hadley anyway. There were only a couple things that she was interested in (like mirrors and a padded roll-around area), but I think she really enjoyed that stuff while her big sister ran around and played.

So glad my friend Meg snapped this picture of Hadley and Jack so quickly!

Check out the last line of Hadley’s school note from last week. 😉 When I picked her up she was covered in yellow paint. Her dress, her hair, her bow… all covered. Thank goodness it’s all washable. This girl.

Sadie thinks teething is for the birds. ME TOO! After struggling to nap all day last Thursday, she finally crashed on the living room floor. PS: I’m super irritated by the new information that Hyland’s Teething Tablet are now possibly linked to a bunch of negative side effects, like strokes. These tablets are the only thing (besides Tylenol, which I don’t like to give too much of) that have soothed Hadley and Sadie when new teeth are popping through, so I’m just beside myself with how to soothe my girl when she’s hurting. Arg.

Dinner one night last week consisted of english muffin pizzas and a picnic on the front porch during a storm while waiting for Daddy to pull up. This new scrunchy nose smile cracks me up!

Jamie had a lunchtime Hail & Farewell event last Friday, so since he was being officially “hailed” the girls and I decided to attend. I love seeing him with these two (matching) girls in his arms.

Happy Sadie after a nap in the car. This sweet face melts me.

Current phase: Wear all the princess dresses from sun up to sun down every single day.

Remember how I said that Teddy usually only gets close to Hadley when she has food? This is exactly what I’m talking about. He’s a NUT. We’re pretty sure he’d eat until his stomach exploded.

Let’s chat!

Teething remedies? Any tips for practically storing dress-up clothes?

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
