Though I really wanted to have some updated professional family photos taken, I didn’t think it was going to be in the cards for us this year for a plethora of reasons. I stumbled upon a local photographer’s fall-session giveaway on Facebook a few weeks ago, and though I didn’t win, I was still really interested in her work and having her take our pictures.
Her packages are so reasonable considering how talented she is, so on a whim I contacted her to talk out what I was interested in. A week later we met on a trail on a beautiful Sunday afternoon with our fingers crossed that the girls would cooperate for a quick hour of pictures.
Sadie was cooperative throughout the entire session, but even a zillion rounds of singing The Itsy Bitsy Spider behind the photographer couldn’t get her to crack even the slightest smile. She was straight-faced from start the finish and looked at us constantly like we were a bunch of hootin’, hollerin’ fools. 😉
We are so not above occasionally bribing Hadley, so we started talking with her pretty early in the day about how we’d get her a chocolate shake from McDonald’s right after pictures if she listened to Mommy and Daddy. She’s only had one McDonald’s shake in her life, but it must have been a darn good shake because she asks for one every single time she sees those golden arches. This blue-eyed girl has my heart.
Besides taking a break from pictures to occasionally play in the dirt and collect sticks, she surprisingly did pretty darn fantastic while taking pictures and earned that chocolate shake.
The picture below was a request from me because we have similar ones from the past few years. I love having a new little human to add to our walk this year. I’ve very grateful!
This guy… he’s my person. Love him so very much.
Local (Manhattan, KS) friends – I can’t recommend Jessica Phillips Photography enough. She was so patient with our girls, so professional in requesting and receiving payment, and impressively timely with getting our images back to us (six days!)
If you’re in northeast Kansas and are interested in having pictures taken, I’d highly recommend working with Jessica. I looked into using a dozen or more photographers in the area, and her quality combined with her package prices seem to be unmatched. She’s a long-time Army wife who is as sweet and genuine as can be, and I’d love to see her business grow, grow, grow. She deserves it!
Also, she said that there’s still time to take and get back photos before Christmas. 🙂
Want to go ahead and work with her? I talked with her about putting together this post, and she would like to offer 20% off any package booked between now and December 15th (you can browse her packages here). Your pictures can be taken any time in 2017 though, just as long as your session is booked by the 15th.* You can contact Jessica via her Facebook page. Simply mention the discount you read about via my blog, and she’ll get you taken care of.
*A $50 retainer fee will be due at the time of booking.
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
