For some reason, typing out the title of this post and writing “#6” took me by surprise. I feel like just yesterday I was sitting around with Jamie brainstorming this little year-long series, and now we’re just cruising right along meeting new bloggers right and left. This is FUN and I’m so appreciative of your support of this series and of these featured bloggers so far. Thank you. 🙂
Excited to feature Sarah today. 🙂 She and I became friends in college at The University of Alabama while studying together to be secondary English teachers, and it’s been so enjoyable reconnecting with her throughout the last couple of years via our blogs. I imagine that everyone she meets just loves her, and I’m glad that you all get to know her via her interview here today!
Q: In three sentences or less, tell us about who you are.
A: I’m Sarah—a wife and middle school English teacher who lives and works in the same small town I was raised in. I’m married to my best friend, and we were set up on a blind date by one of my coworkers even though we went to the same high school (just didn’t know each other!).
Q: When and why did you start blogging, and what are you favorite things about it?
A: I started blogging a few months after getting married. I had been reading blogs for a while and mentioned it to my husband, Dustin, that I thought about creating one, and he told me to go for it!
Q: Who do you think would really enjoy your blog?
A: I hope all age groups would enjoy my blog! I strive to glorify Christ in all aspects of my life, and I hope that is evident on my blog.
Q: How do you make time for blogging while also balancing a full-time career?
A: Plan, plan, and plan again! I have a calendar for my blog where I pre-plan blog posts, and I also pre-write them. Sometimes life happens and I don’t get something posted when I want to, so I try to give myself some grace when I’m not able to stick to my calendar.
Q: I love reading your fashion-related posts as well as your healthy living posts. You seem to have a passion for both. Where does that passion for fashion stem from?
A: I have always loved clothes! Even as a little girl, I have fond memories of going shopping with my gran and her sisters for pageant dresses for me—and I never did pageants! They just bought me these dresses to wear for fun. 🙂 In college I almost changed my major to apparels and textiles with the dream of working as a buyer for a major department store or working in the corporate office of JCrew or Anthropologie, but God had other plans for me, and I am happy as an English teacher.
Q: Where does your passion and knowledge of healthy living come from?
A: Right after I graduated college, I realized how overweight I was and started a journey to lose weight and become healthier. I ended up losing almost 60 pounds and my “diet” transformed into a lifestyle. I gained a little of that weight back during grad school (aka the most stressful time of my life) so I’m working to get that weight off and to quit eating sweets ha!
Q: What are your three favorite things about being an English teacher?
A: I love when my students get excited about reading. I love when a student who says he/she hates to read finds a book or series and begins to love reading. I love seeing a student feel successful at something.
Q: What are a few blog posts that readers should start with to get to know you better?
I would start with my About Me page. Here’s my post on my weight loss journey. Here’s my most recent day in the life. Finally, here’s my home at Christmas.
And just for fun…
Q: Mountains or beach?
A: Hands down, beach everytime!
Q: Boots or booties?
A: Depends on the outfit
Q: Early bird or night owl?
A: Early bird—I enjoy getting up early and starting my day!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
