Hello hello! How was your weekend? We stayed busy but enjoyed nonstop family time, which is always my favorite way to spend our weekends.
A little behind-the-scenes for ya: I’m actually writing this at 3:30 a.m. because I’m crazy and can’t sleep for the life of me. Sadie woke up randomly at 2, and after letting her holler for her life fuss for longer than I should have, I got up to nurse her and put her back to sleep. (She’s been totally out of sorts for six days now, so if there’s a tooth coming, I’m just praying it breaks through soon!) Now I’m wide awake. Staring at this screen is actually starting to make me sleepy again, so I’m gonna whip this post together and then snooze a couple more hours.
*Edit: It’s 4:04 and I’m going back to sleep. I’ll finish this later today. 🙂
*Another edit: It’s 8:19 a.m., the girls are both eating breakfast and watching TV, and I’m picking back up. Good morning!
Let’s jump right in to an overdue slice of life. 🙂
I’m slooooowly starting to nibble at Elite Blog Academy 3.0. Because I purchased 2.0 last year, I’ll now always be able to access the new EBA versions. I talked a few weeks ago about the satisfying results I saw from completing 2.0 last year, so I’m expectant of similar results this year after working through the improved course again. EBA 3.0 is officially on sale starting today at 7 A.M. EST and is only on sale once a year for five days. I read there’s a couple worthwhile bonuses if you buy it today or tomorrow, so maybe something to consider?

Though our weekend was chilly, our weather here in Kansas has been really mild and pleasant for the majority of the last couple of weeks. We’ve been able to spend so many afternoons jogging to a couple different parks nearby, which is a win/win for everybody.
I know I sound like an old record, but I love living in this smallish city. It’s inevitable that we see so many of our friends during pretty afternoons at any given park. I LOVE it.

I didn’t realize until I starting putting this post together that I captured two of Sadie’s famous facial expressions on camera this week. She can mean-mug the heck out of you, and apparently she’s getting pretty famous for that scowl. It makes everybody laugh! One of the Sunday morning church nursery workers is in our life group, and she said that everybody just dies watching Sadie make facial expressions at all the other kids. So funny!

She’s also obsessed with blowing all kinds of raspberries or just sticking her tongue out and spitting at you. While this makes Jamie and I laugh, it’s Hadley who usually falls apart in hysterics when Sadie starts her spitting or vibrating those little lips. Sadie then recognizes that she’s making Hadley laugh, and then just continues doing it over and over. I have two little comedians for sure!
Last Thursday, Teddy had his hip surgery that I talked briefly about last week. He’s still not putting much weight on it, but it seems like he’s becoming more and more like himself every day. He’ll be in his crate for the majority of the next week which is really frustrating for him, but we’re motivated to keep him in there knowing that it’s what he needs to fully heal. We can’t wait to see him bouncing around the house pain-free again!
I know this dry shampoo is old news, but it’s new to me since it took me so long to bite the bullet and buy it! I’m one of the super unlucky ones who cannot go more than two days MAX without washing my hair because it gets so greasy. I’ve tried a zillion other brands of dry shampoo, but I’ve never really loved any of them. What sets apart is that not only does it make your hair look fresh, but it actually cleans it! Yesterday I went for a sweaty run at 3, but needed to hurry up and get ready again since we had our life group coming over at 5. I took a quick body shower and then used this dry shampoo on my hair. I’ve never not washed my hair after a run, but this did the trick! So so so so awesome and worth the price tag! A little bit also goes a long way, so should last a little while!
On Saturday morning we went to one of Hadley’s best little girlfriend’s third birthday party at the zoo. It was such a cute party and the kids all loved it!
It was freezing Saturday morning, so during the portions of the party that we walked around outside, Jamie wore Sadie to keep her extra warm (and so that she would hopefully nap, but that was a big fat fail.) She’s in love with her daddy, and it makes Jamie really happy that she’s so uniquely into him.
We really didn’t start going to kid-focused birthday parties until about a year ago, and Hadley has figured out real quick that they’re her favorite thing ever. The cake and presents and friends and games… it all just makes her so happy.

On Saturday night the Landers spontaneously came over for frozen pizzas, bagged veggies, and store-bought cookies. We all love a good laid-back night to hang together.
While the four kids played hard in the living room and playroom, we were sandwiched in the kitchen playing this . We’ve had this cube of discussion-starter questions on our kitchen table for a few months, and it’s been fun to crack open while sitting around the table with family and friends.
Let’s chat!
- What are your favorite games to play with friends?
- What do you love the most about where you live?
Bonus question that’s totally unrelated to any pictures today. I need to wean Sadie from nursing. She’s 10.5 months and is still nursing constantly for comfort and to be close to me. This isn’t working any more, and since we’re close to a year old, we need to nip this in the bud. I don’t want to this to be traumatic for her though, and it’s okay if it’s gradual over the next month. I just need tips!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
