We had a pretty solid weekend around here that was full of friends, family time, and a ton of good food!
On Friday, Jamie met the girls and me at the mall after work so that we could switch cars. He took the girls home and I headed out to meet a friend for some Mexican. It was a fun, much-needed few hours of girl time without the kiddos. I loved this picture Jamie sent me of Hadley passed out while “reading” her little Bible (which was actually my picture Bible when I was her age).
On Saturday morning I got up bright and early to knock out a four-mile run. I’m training to run a 10k in a couple weeks, so I knew I needed to get this run out of the way. It was a beautiful morning, so the run felt great. A little before noon we all loaded up and headed over to our favorite doughnut spot for a birthday party for one of Hadley’s little friends. Sadie loves tagging along for birthday parties and enjoying the fun (and food!)
Jamie ran to a couple stores Saturday afternoon while I stayed back with the girls so they could nap. The temperature was 76 and gorgeous outside, so we spent a good bit of the late afternoon outside with our neighbors on the trampoline. Around 5:30 we came inside so I could get started on dinner, which was a recipe I’d stumbled upon that morning in my inbox. This bacon and egg fried rice was absolutely delicious! Jamie requested that I make it again this week so that he can take it for his lunches. It was easy to make, so I’m happy to comply!
The girls crashed a little after 7, and Jamie and I ended the night watching a Netflix movie together. I think it was called The Impossible and was based on a family’s true story from the Thailand tsunami. It was just okay.
On Sunday I whipped together this pancake puff recipe that I’d recently ripped out of a magazine. I thought it was just alright, but Sadie and Jamie ate every last bite of their portions. They loved it! Ha. 🙂 We all quickly got ready for church and were out the door by 9:10.
After church we went out to lunch with some friends and then made a quick grocery trip to Aldi. The rest of the day consisted of cleaning, laundry, and prepping for our life group from church to come over last night. We had a good crowd and are so enjoying leading our group so far. I made a big batch of spaghetti and meatballs that a few families stuck around to enjoy over good conversation.
I ended Sunday night by throwing together this post (because writing is sometimes my favorite way to unwind), and then crashing in bed by 10:30.
I hope you had an enjoyable weekend, friends!
