Hello hello! I’m writing this a few days early since we’re on vacation this weekend. Many thanks to today’s blogger for being so on top of the game and getting me her interview responses and pictures in a snap!
Readers, thank you so much for making this little series a part of your weekend routine and popping in to check out each week’s featured blogger! Today’s blog is Jenn from Lost in the Right Direction, and we’ve been following each others’ sites for at least a year. Her travel posts always make me swoon! Meet Jenn. 🙂
Q: In three sentences of less, tell us a little bit about who you are.
A: I am a lover of travel, books, vegetarian food and my Shepherd/Husky mix, Bolt. I currently live in the Frozen Tundra that is Fort Drum, NY with my soldier husband.
Q: When and why did you start your blog, and how did you come up with your title?
A: I started blogging a while ago at a different site and I planned to stop and did for a while. I just wasn’t into it anymore. Then, a few months later, my husband joined the Army and life got a bit more exciting. I know he doesn’t plan to make this a career, so I really wanted to make sure to document our lives during this time. I actually got the name of my blog from a quote I found on Pinterest “It feels good to be lost in the right direction”.
Q: You blog about visiting so many places around the world! Who do you usually travel with when visiting new countries?
A: Now, I always travel with my husband, but it the past it was usually with total strangers, haha! I traveled to Europe as a Student Ambassador and had met a handful of the people I went with in meetings before the trip, but didn’t meet the rest of the group until we landed. I went to Costa Rica as part of JMU’s Alternative Spring Break Program and didn’t meet any of the people until 2 days before the trip. When I traveled to California, it was the same thing, ASB trip and only knew one person before we left. I came out of all of those experiences with some great lifelong friends!
Q: What are three of your favorite places you’ve visited? Do you have a least favorite?
A: My favorites have been: Costa Rica, Honduras, and Italy. My least favorite place was probably the Vatican or Pisa, Italy.
Q: Do you have any big trips coming up?
A: Unfortunately, no ☹ with my husband being deployed and us having about a 4 month window of when he could be back, we can’t really make plans. However, I will be exploring Northern NY and Canada this summer. I have plans to go to Ottawa and will hopefully visit Montreal as well. I also have a few plans for day trips for when my Mom visits in August!
Q: What other hobbies do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: I love reading, though I haven’t really been doing much of it lately. Once the weather get better here, I’ll definitely be getting out and exploring more of NY. Since we’ve moved here I’ve really enjoyed going to Vineyards and trying new wines! I also happen to have the neediest dog ever, so half of my day is spent playing with him or taking him to the dog park.
Q: Who do you think would enjoy your blog?
A: Military Wives, or anyone stationed at Fort Drum. Anyone trying to get out of debt, since I recently started blogging about our journey to get out of debt. Anyone who enjoys travel and books.
Q: Please list three blog posts where readers should start on your blog.
2. Getting Out of Debt: My Motivation
And just for fun…
Long walk or bike ride? Both
Early bird or night owl? Early Bird, definitely!
iPhone or Android? Android 100%
Scary or comedy movie? Comedy!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
