Hello hello! What are you up to this weekend? The girls and I are enjoying one last weekend “just us” before company arrives into town for Hadley’s dance recital next weekend. Jamie is also scheduled to come home soon too, and we cannot wait to see him! Our plan is to go strawberry picking this morning and maybe walk to the playground after naps later. We’ll see how the day brings. 🙂
I’m happy to introduce you to Lindsay today, the blogger behind Crazy About Expresso. Lindsay is actually a brand new blogger, so I spent a good chunk of time going through her content so that I could familiarize myself enough to customize these questions. What I found was a blogger who has so many neat topics to share. She seems to have the kindest heart and has advice and tips on so many topics. Above all, she seems very relatable and approachable. Meet Lindsay!
Q: In three sentences or less, tell us a little bit about who you are.
A: There are so many ways that I could describe myself, but the number one thing is that I am family oriented. My family will always come first. I am 36, and being a mom is what brings me the most joy. Secondly, I would describe myself as happy. People have asked me are you ever in a bad mood? Not really. I believe people are born with certain characteristics; I must have gotten the happy one. Lastly, I would call myself adventurous. Every week I want to try something new. It could be recipes, DIY, or going somewhere. As I am getting older, I want to step out of my comfort zone.
Q: I love the title of your blog! How did you come up with it?
A: Four years ago my boys wanted to get a dog. We went to the local dog shelter and found a brown lab named Expresso. Since we live in the country and our yard wasn’t fenced, they denied us. We ended up getting our dog that we have now from a local farm. The boys wanted to keep the name Expresso. The name for the blog came from how crazy my boys are over our dog Expresso. Most parents would agree that some days your kids just want to fight with each other. Expresso is that buffer between my boys.
Q: How long have you been blogging, and what topics to do enjoy writing about the most?
A: I have only been blogging since the end of March. The topics that I enjoy writing about are the ones that teach people something. If they get a good laugh or chuckle out of my antics then that is even better.
Q: You have three boys! When do you realistically squeeze in time to crank out a post?
A: I work 28 hours a week as a property manager so I work on my posts during lunch. The actual back end work of the post usually happens with 3 boys in the background and sometimes even Expresso. Many of my pictures have somebody in my family in them because they are always wanting to help.
Q: Tell us about your sons! How old are they, what kind of things are they into, etc.
A: I have three boys. Nick is 10. He is extremely smart and always building something. He is my child that always has a smart comeback for everything. Ashton is six. He is my tender-hearted boy. Ashton helps the most. He is aware of everything that Urban and I do and is always willing to lend us a hand. Even when we don’t ask him to. Ben is 20 months. He is a momma’s boy. Right now he loves everything with wheels. All my boys love being outdoors. We try to get outside and do as many activities as we can. Sometimes it is as simple as playing frisbee, but other times it can be sitting around a fire pit roasting marshmallows.
Q: I recently read that you and your husband have built 20 (!!) houses. What?! Tell us more!
A: Urban and I started flipping properties in 2004. We started with mobile homes then went to houses/farms. Now we build properties. It has become a side hustle you could say for us.
Q: What are some of your biggest pieces of advice for those thinking about building a house?
A: Don’t become a housezilla. 🙂 When you build, it is probably unrealistic that you will get everything that you want in a house (i.e. floor plan, granite countertops, walk-in closets). You should be willing to compromise. I tell people that they should focus on one or two items that they really want in a house. Mine was a pantry and separate laundry room. Everything else must be negotiable. Remember, family is what makes it a home. Without that you just have a house.
Q: What do you view as the biggest advantages to building a house?
A: Being able to customize it how you want it.
Q: What are some of your favorite ways to spend your free time?
A: I love to read. Our local library gives away the magazines after they are two months old. I am constantly bringing home free magazines to read. I am also addicted to free books on the kindle. You must do this from a desktop; It’s under best sellers and top 100 free. 🙂 Sorry, I couldn’t help myself. Just an FYI in case you didn’t know.
Q: Where should new readers start on your blog?
About | Monster Cookies | DIY Planter Boxes
And just for fun…
- Online shopping or in-person shopping? Online
- Movie theater or arcade? Movie theater
- Melt warmers or candles? I prefer candles but I don’t have any in the house right because of my little guy. So warmers.
- Paper calendar or digital calendar? Both. 🙂 Paper calendar for my blog. Digital calendar for everything else.

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
