Slice of Life – May 17th, 2017

Our big girl is officially on summer break, and we’re excited about a summer of fun ahead!

On the second to last day of school last week, I pulled out her Oh, the Places You’ll Go! book and kindly asked that her two teachers write her a short note inside. 🙂 We did this last year too after she finished up her first year of Childs Day Out, and I’m excited to see it fill up with more notes from her teachers as she grows. I remember pinning this idea a couple years before I was even pregnant with Hadley. I don’t actually follow through with most ideas I pin on Pinterest, but I’m glad I found the motivation to give this one a go. 🙂

For now, this is how we’re organizing Hadley’s art projects, special notes, etc. from school. We now have two hanging folders in this box – one from last year and one from this year. At the end of every school day, I’d sort through what she came home with and did one of four things with it – throw it away, hang it up in our kitchen, set it aside to mail to a grandparent, or put it in this file folder.

For teacher gifts this year I reached out to my local friend Shannon who is the most adorable independent Perfectly Posh consultant. I asked her to put together a few little bundles for me for Hadley’s teachers, and she went above and beyond with putting them together in a “ready to gift” way. She also included some samples for me, and now I have a list of things I want to order from her. 🙂 If you’re like me and enjoy new soaps, lotions, etc. you should give some Posh product a try!

We were at our battalion commander’s house the other day, and I couldn’t get over how good her home smelled! I then walked around the corner and saw that she was diffusing oils. My MIL had gifted me a starter Young Living set a couple years ago, but I only used it every now and then if somebody was sick or if I had another specific use for an oil. After we got home that night, I got back out my diffuser and oils and have been diffusing them every night as I sit in bed and work and then drift off to sleep. Love love loving these oils! What are your favorite ways to use essential oils? What are your favorite oils to diffuse?

Last week we also finished up Hadley’s first year of soccer practices! We’ll definitely be signing up again next year. She really enjoyed it! It wiped her out though! An hour is a long time for a three year old to run around nonstop. She always slept well on soccer days. 🙂

This girl and her books. I hope she’s always a little bookworm. Books are the one thing we probably buy her too many of, but we feel like she learns something new from each book, so we want to encourage this major interest of hers. This was a pic I snapped her last week sleeping with an open book still in hand. 🙂

I needed a new swimsuit cover-up, and I was on the hunt for one that I could feel comfortable wearing to the pool with my family but was also cute enough to wear down at the beach with my girlfriends in a few weeks. I also needed something that was reasonably priced because hellooooo crazy, busy, expensive summer coming up! Of course Amazon had my winner. 🙂 This cover-up is $15 and available in over 10 colors. It has a cute little scooped back to it, and I really love the adjustable drawstring that can cinch my waistline. I haven’t worn it out and about yet, but I’m looking forward to!

And finally, we get to see this hunk of ours in three days. 🙂 Such a cool picture from his time in California at NTC!

Let’s chat!

  1. Do you have big summer plans? Where are you headed and what are you shopping for?
  2. I’d love to hear how you use your oils!
  3. Have you used any Perfectly Posh products before?

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
