Hey friends!
Last week I mentioned that our weekend trip to Birmingham would be fast and furious, and boy oh boy… it was a whirlwind! We had a ton of fun though, and I’d love to show you a few pictures if you’re interested. 🙂
My in-laws arrived from Austin Friday morning to watch the girls, and Friday afternoon Jamie left work a couple hours early so that we could head to catch a direct flight from Kansas City to Atlanta. Our flights were dirt cheap, but we knew the trade-off was that the travel would be a bit pesky. Not having the girls though made us feel like we could fly through every part of our travels. It was awesome and we so enjoyed a short “break”.
We grabbed our rental car Friday night in Atlanta and headed two hours west to Birmingham, getting to my brother’s house after midnight. We got a decent night’s sleep and then quickly threw ourselves together to run around a few places my brother David wanted to take us. First stop: Pepperplace Market!
After a half day of shopping and eating, we said adios to my brother and headed to my friend Ashley’s house. (Psst: She’s the one whose beautiful wedding I was in last month!)
Jamie and I were so happy to see her and Wade in their new home, and after catching up a bit we all threw our swimsuits on and relaxed by the pool for a couple hours. Such a perfect afternoon. We couldn’t be happier!
Meanwhile, my mother-in-law was so great and sent us pictures and videos of the girls constantly. We loved getting them! These are hands down a couple of my favorites. 🙂
Late Saturday afternoon, we all headed back to Ashley and Wade’s and got ready to head to Brittany and David’s wedding!
Brittany was one of my pledge sisters in college and we’ve stayed close ever since, honestly just getting closer every year. One of the coolest thing about this wedding is that she married one of my best “guy friends” from college, except they didn’t know each other back then! David (her new husband) and I even traveled together a couple times (with a few other friends too), but our friendship naturally somewhat faded when Jamie came into my life halfway through college. When I found out that Brittany and David were in a serious relationship last year, I was obviously thrilled! They are so perfect for each other, and I wouldn’t have missed this wedding for the world!
Several of my closest friends were there, so getting to spend a hot minute with them was 100% worth the little sleep we got this weekend. 🙂
On Sunday morning we hit the road back to Atlanta at 3:30 a.m., fell asleep the very minute we hit our seats on the flight (neither of us remember anyone boarding around us – ha!), and then grabbed some coffee (I never drink coffee – ha!) to make it through the drive back to Manhattan (we were back by lunchtime!) We spent the rest of the day yesterday happily playing with our girls, catching up with my in-laws, and enjoying a relaxing Sunday night. We are so grateful for my in-law’s help this weekend and know our girls had a total blast!
I hope you had a nice weekend as well. 🙂 I’ll see ya tomorrow!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
