Happy Monday, party people! After the heck of a weekend we’ve had, all I really have the “thinking room” for is a slice of life where I spit out a little bit of what we’ve been up to, if you’re interested. 🙂
I have a load of pictures I’d love to share with you, so I’ll have a little bit today and come back with the rest tomorrow.
So! Let’s back up.
A week ago we dropped off this handsome guy on post to head overseas, and if you read this post, you know that he’s only going for a quick few months. Hallelujah.
The last week was harder than expected thanks to a violent stomach bug for our one year old, a little bit of acting out from the three year old, one big Saturday night failed outing, and a dummy mama who left the freezer door open overnight. In the grand scheme, all of these were trivial, but at times I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry (I’ve done both!) about how spot on Murphy’s Law really is when it comes to deployments. Sheesh!
Though we’ve taken quite a few rides on the struggle bus, we’ve had a lot of really sweet moments too.
We have two chicks who both think that brushing their teeth is the most fun thing ever. I’m personally good with twice a day, but they’d be thrilled if they could up the teeth brushing routine to every hour. It’s actually kind of maddening because I catch them playing in the water and eating (!) toothpaste constantly. Oy. Â I sure do love how Sadie looks at Hadley though. She watches and then mimics everything she sees her do.
And I’m the lucky one that gets to sit back and watch every step of their indirect teaching/learning relationship. I love it.
I think it’s so funny to see which item a child gravitates toward as their comfort piece. For Hadley, she can’t sleep without “purple” (a handmade blanket from one of my former co-workers). For Sadie, it’s this super thin, small pink blanket that I was gifted during my pregnancy with Hadley. Both of these girls had/has a zillion blankets to choose from, so watching them pick “the one” has been fascinating.
To be blunt, communication with Jamie since he’s been gone has been less than stellar. We’ve had just a couple 5-10 minute conversations that weren’t interrupted every 30 seconds (literally) by the bad WiFi connections. Not only has the connection been frustrating, but trying to match up our schedules so we can include the girls in our conversations has been hard as well. I’m sure we’ll get in our groove like we always do, but gosh… deployments are tricky.
And because this is shamelessly Sadie’s baby book, here’s a few sweet pics of our girl the weekend before Jamie left. 🙂 She’s been loving oatmeal and yogurt (not together) lately, so after a big bowl of either, she’s almost always in need of a quick sink bath. So cute!
Sadie got to ride on a pony for the second time a couple of weeks ago and just loved it! We were attending a super fun St. Jude’s toy drive to support a girlfriend of mine’s family, and the pony ride was a highlight for our girls. They both adore horses.
See ya tomorrow, friends! xo
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
