Hadley was only six weeks old when her first Christmas came rolling around, and I vividly remember feeling so stumped (and a bit baffled) when the slew of questions came in asking what we wanted her to get for Christmas. Obviously a super legitimate question, but she was this teeny tiny little human who really just wanted to be in my arms! For the life of me, I couldn’t think of anything we needed or wanted for this new baby. #firstworldprob
Though Sadie was eight months old during her first holiday season, I still felt a little clueless last year about what to ask for for her. (Um, five boxes of diapers?! but seriously…) Babies don’t really need much besides the essentials that are likely already on hand, and I just couldn’t seem to think long-term about what she might need a few months ahead. (My measly answer: whatever you’d like! Our relatives were good thinkers and came up with some sweet stuff.)
Whether you’re a brand new parents clueless about what to tell others to get for your baby, or you’re a relative who purely wants to love on that sweet baby for his/her first holiday season, hopefully this list will help your shopping efforts. 🙂
Gifts for Baby’s First Christmas
Pottery Barn Kids Anywhere Chair ($99+), because I could go on and on about how much we love these chairs. They’re precious for taking tiny infant pictures, great for learning to pull up, easily washable, and can fit their little bottoms for years and years. (I actually plop myself in them sometimes – ha!) So many prints and styles. Highly recommend and totally worth the money. Order quickly (today?!) though for personalization!
The cutest bath toys ($17.99), because how nice that this set comes with a little mesh bag as well! Babies would love this. So would my three year old, actually. 😉
Sit, Stand, and Ride Walker ($44.73), because this toy is great for babies as soon as they can sit! It can be taken apart and maneuvered different ways to work for sitters, walkers, riders, etc. Take a look at the website and all that it can do. Fun toy!
Hide and Seek Climber and Swing ($105.33), because if you live somewhere that’s going to be chilly for a while, this would be such a nice option to have in a basement or bonus room. As soon as it warms up, put it outside. So cute! The mom or dad could sit and watch tv and put the baby in the swing at the same time. 😉
Giraffe Comfy Cozy Blanket ($24.37), because you never know what item will become his or her favorite “comfort” item, and this could very well be it. Cute and cuddly! Great idea creating a stuffed animal and blanket in one. 🙂
Personalized First Christmas snow globe ($33.72), because if you’d like to gift the baby something that’s more of a keepsake, what a precious idea this snow globe would be! Take a look at it on Etsy. They’re so beautiful and can be personalized!
Family recognition photo book ($10+), because the baby’s parents will flip over this gift (I know from experience as the receiver!). Go on Shutterfly and create a photo book with all of the people who are special in the baby’s life. Put one person on each page with his or her name. The parents can then read through this book and help the baby learn to identify who the people are. My sister created a homemade version, and I shared briefly about it in this post. PS: I’ve made photo books from four different websites, and Shutterfly is my personal favorite. It’s the most affordable, with the easiest website, that prints quality pictures.
Activity cube ($56.99), because every kid needs something like this to fidget with. 🙂
Baby’s first Christmas ornament ($7+), because there are so many precious options on Etsy! You have to take a look.
Music Makers gift set ($38.75), because watching a baby make music annoys exactly zero people. In fact, there are few things sweeter than seeing a baby sit on the floor with a huge smile on his/her face as they realize they can make all kinds of racket with items like these. 🙂
Little Splashers Rainy Day Bath Set ($19.46), because water toys that can “make it rain” (literally!) seem to be the crowd favorite. I’m getting this for my kids this year because they’ll enjoy it as much as babies will!
My First Sports Bag ($19.90), because I have always thought this was so adorable. So perfect for an infant!
Board Books, because it’s never too early to make bedtime reading a daily thing and because a kiddo can never have too many books.

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
