Hello hello, and Happy Easter weekend!
I have the beautiful Kasey from Days of a Wife on the “Saturday Sit-Down” today, and I think it’s so well-timed that she shares a good amount of faith-based content considering the religious holiday weekend. I love what she has to share today about new adventures, being a newlywed, and a few of her thoughts about being a teacher. Meet Kasey!
Q: Hey Kasey! Please introduce yourself in three sentences or less. 🙂
A: Hi! My name is Kasey and my blog is called Days of a Wife. I am a 24-year-old high school math and science teacher, pastor’s wife, lover of Disney, shopaholic, and follower of Jesus. I have been married to my husband for almost two years and currently we live in Roanoke, VA.
Q: When did you start your blog, and what motivated you to do so?
A: I started my blog in November of 2016. At that point I had been reading others blogs for many years, and had always wanted to start my own. My husband and I had just been married for a few months, and I realized that I wanted a way to document our memoires, big and small. So randomly, one night, I started a blog! My very first post was about our Disney honeymoon. I wanted to remember everything about our wedding and honeymoon, so I documented them! Ever since then I’ve kept up with it fairly well!
Q: What are your favorite topics to blog about?
A: Oh there are so many topics I like to talk about! I don’t really feel like I have a niche, I just enjoy sharing life with others. I do really like blogging about travel, but obviously we can’t travel all the time! I also really like to blog about fashion, home décor, book reviews, entertainment, and beauty products.
Q: You’ve blogged a good bit recently about some big transitions you and your husband have gone through. Tell us about the exciting changes you’ve experienced.
A: Yes! Our new year started out crazy! Just a few weeks into January my husband lost his job (as a worship leader) at our church due to budget cuts. At that point, he had about a month and a half to find a new job. We really prayed about it and just asked God to open doors. We weren’t sure what our next step was supposed to be! The day that my husband announced that he was leaving on Facebook we scrolled down and saw that another worship leader in the area that we knew was changing jobs (he had just posted about his transition too), and therefore there was a position open at another local church. Todd didn’t really pursue the open position at first, but many others recommended him for it. So one thing led to another and he got the job! It was truly a God-thing because he did not even miss one day of work! It was a great transition. We have been crazy busy just getting settled in and meeting tons of new people, but we love every minute of it!
Q: I’d love to hear about your wedding since you guys are still newlyweds somewhat. 🙂 What was the most fun part as well as the most stressful part of wedding planning?
A: It’s so funny because my husband always says our wedding was so great, but he would never want to do it again, and I feel the same way! LOL. Our wedding was in June. We picked a “You Are My Sunshine” theme (a song special to us) and used gray, yellow, and mint/turquoise for our colors. I think the most fun part of planning was probably picking out all the décor and the small details that meant something special to us. For example, we did a s’mores bar because we met at a bonfire! The most stressful part was either the money involved (weddings aren’t cheap y’all!) or having to plan it while I was working full time and he was finishing up his last year of college. Also, I loved planning the honeymoon! I know it’s sort of tradition for the groom to plan the honeymoon, but I am the planner and can be a bit of a control freak when it comes to vacation planning! So Todd let me plan the whole trip and that was a blast!
Q: What are some of your favorites ways to spend your free time with your husband?
A: We love to try new things together! We love exploring and trying new restaurants. Honestly, any time we are hanging out together we have fun. We do often go shopping together (my husband is my favorite shopping buddy), and we see a lot of movies ever since we got MoviePass. Also, it’s not strange to find us cuddled on the couch watching Parks and Rec. on Netflix.
Q: What grade and/or subject do you teach? What do you love the most about being a teacher?
A: I teach at a smaller Christian Academy, so I teach quite a few subjects! Within this past year I have taught Algebra 1, Geometry, Home Economics, Life Science, Earth Science, and Biology! We have semester classes (like college), so these have been divided up between the two parts of the year. I have taught 6th graders all the way up to a few 12th graders this year! The part I probably like the most about teaching is that I get to have such a huge impact on the students’ lives. I strive to be a Godly role model for them and I hope that I am able to make a difference in all of their lives! I also love when I am able to create that “ah-ha” moment for students, when things finally click! That’s the best feeling, and makes all the hard work worth it!
Q: Where should new readers start on your blog?
Deluxe Disney Honeymoon Part 1
Q: Where can we connect with you on social media?
And just for fun…
- Sweet or salty snacks? Hmmm usually sweet! I’m a sucker for anything chocolate and gummy worms!
- Beach or mountains? I live right in the middle of the mountains, so when I vacation I definitely want the beach since it provides a change of scenery!
- Call or text? Text! Especially with the addition of GIFS. lol
- Spring or fall? Oh man! This is tough! Spring for the weather and the fact that it leads to a break from school, but fall for the scents and the food!

Thank you so much, Kasey!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
