Choo Choo; All DeSpains aboard the Stitch Fix train!
Though I love (!) Stitch Fix for my own clothing wants/needs (I’ve received over 30 boxes) and really like the kids’ Stitch Fix boxes as well (Hadley received her second box a couple weeks ago and OMG cuteness), it’s the Stitch Fix for Men service that I personally think is the most underrated!
Jamie and I have both recommended it to a ton of our close male friends and family members, but for some reason it’s taken me a while to devote a post to sharing about how the Stitch Fix for Men service has fit into Jamie’s life so seamlessly.
Stitch Fix for Men Review
Jamie has received four boxes from Stitch Fix, starting last December when he returned home from his deployment. He liked the service a lot, kept a few items, and decided to keep it up. His profile is set up to receive a box with five garments/box every three months.
Does Jamie like shopping?
Oh my Heavens, no. He loathes shopping, trying on clothes in dressing rooms, etc. But I always joke with people that although he hates shopping, he does like to look good. (Who doesn’t?!) His ideal situation is probably like most people. He wants to look in his closet, pull out something that fits well and that he feels good in, and then go about his day.
How he bought his new clothes in the past
Until he signed up for Stitch Fix, I did all of his clothes shopping for him, which has always been frustrating for me because I end up returning or exchanged at least 50% of what I’ve bought him. He fluctuates in size constantly depending on what kind of workouts he’s into, so his size and the way he wants things to fit is seemingly always changing.
He would never tell me he needs anything…
…but then we’d be getting ready to go out to eat, go on vacation, etc. and he would struggle with figuring out what to wear. This was especially rough when he was in the active duty side of the Army because he wore a uniform everyday. He never felt like he needed new clothes, but of course he still needed clothes because you can’t actually live in an Army uniform. 😉
His “transitioning to a civilian job” wardrobe
All he asked for for Christmas last year was gifts cards to go shopping – lol. He spent a few hundreds bucks at department stores buying lots of basics such as dress pants, black and brown belts, black and brown shoes, dress socks, undershirts, and a few shirts. And holy moly… this added up quick.
So when he started his job in April…
…he was set. He had about 8-10 complete outfits for work, which was a good starting place.
So this is where Stitch Fix for Men comes in
Now that he receives a box every season, I don’t have to shop for him anymore (meaning I don’t have to make returns anymore!) He gets his box, picks out what he likes (which is always at least three items), and then sends the rest back.
Pricing
Jamie has selected to receive “the cheaper, the better” for his budget. In my opinion, the mens’ clothes are a little bit more expensive than the womens’ clothes, but it’s because the quality is great (really great), and men typically get more wear out of each item than women do.
On average…
…he’s spent about $100-$150 every three months. He’s kept shirts, pants, shorts, casual clothes, etc. Most of his favorite clothes that I see him reaching for over and over (and over) again are from Stitch Fix for Men.
Circling back around…
…it’s totally underrated because it’s a super easy way for men to shop this way. My brother also gets a box every three months, and it’s perfect for him. He works in the business world and needs to look nice, but he really dislikes shopping and putting together outfits. Stitch Fix helps him stay “on trend” without him having to do much of anything.
Who I think Stitch Fix is great for…
Every single guy. If your husband is a soldier, this would be the perfect way to add some casual clothes to his wardrobe to wear on the weekend, or maybe add an occasional business casual outfit so that he’s ready for random events that pop up. It’s obviously great for civilians of all ages and stages in their careers as well.
But about the budget you set…
…take my word for it and mark that your budget is “the cheaper the better” because the Stitch Fix for Men items can get a little steep (at least for my husband’s taste). The quality they send you will still be amazing if you select that you have a lower budget.

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
