A couple months ago I posed a question on Instagram “polling the audience” about who their most difficult person to shop for is, and someone commented “Myself! I never know what to ask for or buy for myself!”
I thought this was so interesting because I often feel the same way. I then saw an acquaintance from college pose the question on Facebook last week, “What are YOU asking for for Christmas? I don’t know what to tell my mom!” And lots of people chimed that they also didn’t know what to put on their lists. Can you relate? I totally can because I feel like I don’t need anything, but if there are people who want to put me on their “to buy for” list, than I’ll surely take it. 😉
My mom and my mother-in-law have both asked me what I want this year for Christmas, and I really didn’t have much of anything to tell them because I don’t have anything reasonable on my list this year. Of course I’d like a new couch, dining set, tons of rugs, etc., but I don’t think those are exactly the types of things they have in mind to gift 30-year-old me. 😉 So creating this post is requiring me to buckle down and really think about the things that I’d love to open for Christmas (or my January birthday – hehe) this year.
Here’s a quick list of things I’d really love but would be slow to buy myself. 🙂
A , because I’ve been eyeing a bag like this ever since I met my bestie Jessica, who has been a long-time fan of hers. I have never bought myself a pricey purse before though because I just. can’t. do it… but dang, I love this one.
, because it’s too pricy to justify routinely buying for myself, but it’s without a doubt the best dry shampoo I have ever used (I splurged on one bottle last year.)
, because I feel so naked if I don’t wear earrings when I leave the house, but studs are really the only earrings that go with my everyday casual “mom” look these days. 😉
, because I’ve been frequenting Starbucks more and more lately while the girls are at school because I get 10x more accomplished at a coffee shop than I do at home (where laundry, general tidying up, and the couch are constantly calling my name!)
My pillows, more specifically a , because my friends and family rave about these pillows, and my whole family is hurting for some new ones!
An 8-person , because we cooked with a Raclette in Switzerland and fell in love with this entertaining form of cooking! We love to entertain and have people over, so I visualize using this a ton!
A , because they have great deals on Zella athletic wear, which is my favorite brand of clothes to wear when working out.
A , because I always wish I had one of them when I’m getting ready for a party, but haven’t gotten around to getting one.
, because Moscow Mules are one of my favorite grown up drinks, so it only makes sense that I have a proper set of mugs to serve them in.
A , because my 10 year old West Point shirts are showing some serious age and need some replacing.
Let’s chat!
What are YOU asking for for Christmas this year? Why is it so hard to come up with gifts for yourself?
PS: Have you seen my other guides? This is #5, so make sure you don’t miss the previous four. I’ll have five more throughout the next week or so. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
