Valentines Day Date Ideas that Don’t Involve Hiring a Babysitter

Here are some of my favorite Valentines Day Date Ideas

As cheesy and “Hallmark-y” as the holiday is, Valentines Day really is a great opportunity to shower those around you with a little bit of extra intentional love – especially your significant other. If you’d like to enjoy this minor “holiday” with your spouse but don’t want to shell out an arm and a leg for a sitter, consider thinking outside of the traditional Valentines Day dinner date box. With 16+ awake hours in a day, there are plenty of opportunities to be intentional with your time in ways that say “I really do love ya!”

Here are five Valentines Day date ideas that don’t involve hiring a sitter.

If your kids are in any kind of daytime program or school, consider taking an hour away from work to meet up for coffee and/or a quick treat, like a doughnut or smoothie!

Wake up early before the kids and knock out a sweaty workout (or even yoga!) that you watch on YouTube or from something from the Beachbody line of programs. If one of you is extra into fitness, he or she could also write up a body weight workout and knock it out together in the living room or garage.

Prep breakfast the night before, pop it in the oven when you wake up (if it takes a while to bake), and then enjoy a special weekday breakfast together. Try to be ready for the day a little bit earlier than you usually are so that you can really enjoy sitting down together and making the morning special. (This breakfast casserole is always our go-to for special occasions or when we have visitors in town!)

Hit up a nearby greenway, strap your kids in strollers, and go for a nice, long walk. Make sure the kids have snacks and drinks so that they’re occupied and you and your spouse can talk with minimal fussiness from your babes. Bonus points if you end up walking to a park where your kids can play and you and your spouse can have a quiet picnic dinner.

Instead of hiring a sitter, enjoy a Valentines Day dinner out as a family! Let your kids wear something festive and that makes them feel special, and then enjoy a night out together. They’re all the loves of your life, after all. <3

Bonus: One of my favorite at-home date night ideas (such a fun memory!)

Let’s chat!

Valentines Day is two days away! Any special plans? We admittedly don’t have our own plans firmed up yet, so I’d love to hear YOUR ideas!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
