I have a chunk of pictures to share today but not a lot of time to write up a bunch of words, so let’s get to it and breeze through a slice of life from the last month or so. 🙂
Most of these pictures are just little snapshots of my girls, with very few pictures that actually capture my life outside of mothering. 😉 I find that I’ve become mostly uninterested in taking pictures like I used to when hanging with my girlfriends, though I can’t put my finger on exactly why. Who knows!
While I love days where I don’t wear a lick of makeup, this girl thinks makeup is the best thing ever. I shared a picture in my last “Slice of Life” of Hadley from dance picture day, and here is our Sadie girl!
Getting to sit on my lap in the driver’s seat when the car is parked and pretend to drive has always been one of our girls’ favorite treats.
Our church’s women’s night in early March was a big success! Loved having my mom sit with me and attend the event.
The event actually turned into a whole family affair since Jamie decided to volunteer to provide security that evening (the area that he loooooves serving in at our church, haha). Since I was attending the event and he was serving, the girls got to hang in the kids area and eat pizza, dance, etc. The whole night was very enjoyable for everyone!
My girlfriend Erin somehow talked me into MCing the beginning of the event with her, and because I’ve been in a season of saying “yes” more often (since I know more “no’s” will be happening after baby girl arrives), I took her up on it. I was nervous to be on stage for a while, but we had a lot of fun with it, and I enjoyed being stretched outside of my comfort zone.
This girl was made to be a big sister! Hadley never showed an interest in baby dolls and their accessories, but anything baby doll-related is Sadie’s favorite thing! I recently started washing all of baby girl’s clothes, bibs, etc., and Sadie is totally enthralled with everything I’ve gotten out. It’s super cute.
Hadley is LOVING soccer; I mean LOVING it! She’s doing pretty well too! She’s one of the younger ones on her team but does a great job getting in there and holding her own. She loudly grunts every. single. time. she kicks the ball, which makes everyone laugh! She has her daddy’s long legs and is a good runner.
She had a great cheering crowd at her first game, including her Uncle David (my brother) who came to the game after a 20 mile run. He’s running Boston next week, and I’m excited to jet up there in a few days to watch him!
Shortly after Hadley’s first soccer game, our family all went out together for a few hours to celebrate my dad’s birthday. We enjoyed gorgeous weather down around Big Spring Park, but mainly just enjoyed the leisurely time together. Everyone says Sadie looks just like my dad, and I really see it in this picture below.
I was 25w5d in the picture below. I can sometimes easily imagine a third baby in our family pictures a few months from now, but at the exact same time absolutely cannot envision a baby in our pictures. It’s such a head trip! We are getting really anxious though and are feeling more and more ready to meet her.
Hanging with people at our home is our jam, so making sure that it’s a comfortable, inviting place to be is super important to me. I wanted to spruce up our back patio a little bit and make it a bit more cohesive-looking since I know we’ll be living out here starting now (three cheers for warm weather!), so I played with some furniture layouts, bought new throw pillows, and swapped out our old outdoor rugs for new ones. The bright, springtime vibe makes me happy!
We bought the patio set from Lowe’s last year, though unfortunately it’s gone up in price a good chunk. 🙁
The two flamingo pillows are from Marshall’s and the other three pillows are from Target (, green leaf, and ).
The is from Target.
Finally, the green garden stool is five years old, was originally purchased at Nebraska Furniture Mart, but surely could be found at just about any home store, such as Hobby Lobby, At Home, etc.
We had a wonderful visit with my sorority sister Christy, who came up for the night and hung out with us this past weekend! It’s funny how kids tend to be such good judges of character because Christy has a heart of gold, and the girls absolutely know it. They love her so much.
This chick is a girl after my own heart: loves good food and loves to talk with girlfriends. 😉 At any given outing, while the other kids are playing, Sadie is sitting with the adults sampling food and listening to everything. She is a clown! Also, this is her newest favorite silly face. 😉
And finally, we’re in full swing with Sadie’s ISR year #2 refresh! Hadley demonstrated in Grand Cayman that she’d retained her swimming skills from last summer, but Sadie needs a refresh since she’s young. The instructor and I can both tell that she’s beginning to recall what she learned last year and will hopefully be a decent swimmer (for a young three year old, that is) this summer.
Hope you’re having a nice week so far! Thanks for reading today! xo

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
