In this Pottery Barn Loralie Spindle Armchair review, I share how long we’ve had these chairs, the fabric selection we chose, how we primarily use the chairs, what throw pillows we pair with them, and more. We are highly satisfied with the Pottery Barn Loralie armchairs that we purchases for our home and hope this review is helpful in deciding whether these armchairs are the right purchase for you as well!
When redesigning our living room, I tried to picture all of the different people and scenarios where we’d be spending time in this space.
Two people that came to mind were our dads, both whom spend time at our home frequently. Neither of them is the type to come over and throw themselves onto a deep couch; I imagined that they would both prefer comfortable chairs where they could sit up somewhat straight and have a good conversation with other adults while watching a ball game, likely with a grandkid on his lap.
Visually, I’d loved the Pottery Barn Loralie spindle armchairs for over a year, but I held back from looking into them further because I’d never seen them in person (our local store doesn’t carry them in-store).
I never seemed to find anything else that grabbed my attention as much as the Loralie armchairs though, so I took a chance on them and ordered them “site unseen”.
When I saw the Pottery Barn delivery men carrying them inside, I about died with excitement. They were beautiful! Though I’d taken measurements and knew about what size they were, they seemed much more grand and impressive in person.
The biggest surprise of all is how comfortable they are. WOW! I thought everyone’s favorite seat in the house would be our Pottery Barn York sofa, but I was wrong. Almost everyone gravitates toward the Loralie chairs.
Pottery Barn Loralie Spindle Armchair Review
Because Pottery Barn furniture is highly customizable, here are the selections I chose:
-White finish
-Basketweave Slub fabric*
-Ivory
*A note about this fabric selection: This is one of the more affordable fabrics and is not a part of their “performance” collection. Choosing a performance fabric (like we did with our sofa and swivel chair) would have nearly doubled the cost of these chairs, and we had reached our budget limit. I decided to take a chance on the cheaper fabric since I assumed that our children would gravitate toward the sofa and not these chairs.
Remember, I assumed these chairs would function more as statement pieces that guests used rather than the pieces our own family gravitated towards.
Well, I was wrong because we truly love these chairs. 🙂
While these fabrics look the exact same from a distance, it’s easy to see the differences when you look really close. The fibers on the performance fabric are woven so tightly together, resisting stains and liquids from getting through easily. The fabric on the spindles chairs just looks like normal fabric (whatever that means). We haven’t spilled anything on it yet, but I’d imagine we will have to “work” stains out of it just like we would a piece of clothing. With that being said, I Scotchguarded the heck out of them.
One major plus to the Basketweave Slub fabric is that it’s so incredibly soft. I wasn’t expecting that!
The lumbar throw pillows are from Home Goods. They were inexpensive and I couldn’t resist the animal print! The chairs are extremely comfortable with and without the lumbar pillows, so this is the style pillow we will always keep on these chairs.
I knew that guests would see the back of these chairs as they entered our home (and our living room), so I like that the backs of these chairs are eye-catching.
We’ve had more inquiries about these chairs than anything else we’ve replaced or redone in our living room. They are attractive and comfortable, which tends to be a difficult combination to find!
I shared in my Pottery Barn York sofa review that we waited to buy our furniture until Pottery Barn’s “Buy More, Save More” sale, where purchases of $799+ are 30% off. We also used our Pottery Barn credit card to get 10% back in store credit. You can read more about our thought process here and how calculated we were with our purchases.
You can see above that we spent just over $550 per armchair, and if you’ve shopped for quality chairs in the past, you know that $550 is far from overpriced when it comes to comfortable and quality.
In summary, I would recommend the Pottery Barn Loralie Spindle armchair as both “everyday chairs” and/or as accent chairs. Visually, they’re beautiful accent chairs. Comfort wise, they’re fantastic “everyday” chairs.

If you have armchairs in your living space, do you use them primarily as accent chairs or are they prominent seating?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
