October has been such an amazing month, and this past weekend put the icing on the cake. I had been anticipating Friday for a while because my SGA officers and I have been putting together the annual Halloween dance. Let me just say that it is very difficult to plan something big without ever having seen it before! I definitely have the BEST SGA members in the world though because they helped me envision what it was supposed to look like and stayed many afternoons planning the shindig. After school got out on Friday the SGA worked for two hours with four parent volunteers to set everything up while I was in my classroom finishing up day two of parent/teacher conferences. The kids showed up around 6:30 and danced their little hearts out for three hours. I’m pretty sure everybody had a great time! Planning first school dance = SUCCESS. =)
6am Saturday came EARLY. I had planned all week to meet my friends in Knoxville for the UT game, but I was exhausted. Actually, exhausted is an understatement. I so badly wanted to sleep in, but knew come 10am I’d hate myself for not getting my lazy behind outta bed. Five hours later the parents and I arrived in Knoxville. Five of my friends had driven up Friday night to stay in Gatlinburg, but because of the dance Friday I couldn’t ride along. Everything worked out great though. We scalped tickets for $45 bucks each, all sat together in the nosebleeds amongst UT fans, and had ourselves a GREAT time!
I would like to say this about our experience at Tennessee, and all of the girls I was with would agree with me: Tennessee fans were overall the NICEST and most WELCOMING fans we have ever met. Shocker, right?! Considering how much “hate” there is between the two schools and football, we were treated like gold all day. People were telling us “welcome” right and left, helping us out and showing us all over campus when we were looking for a certain place, and just overall being very, very almost WEIRDLY nice. The only negative from the UT fans was the “F*** you bama” being shouted for a solid minute by the student section, but to be honest, every SEC school has a student section that has done some stupid things. If I said Bama never has, I’d be lying. Somebody that’s drunk gets everybody hyped up and starts yellin’. The UT fans around us apologized multiple times, which also showed some class. Overall, it was an awesome gameday. AAANNNDDD ash and harmon got on TV! Little TV stars on the 50 yard line. 🙂 When I’M getting multiple texts telling me that they were on TV, you know it was a good shot of them. 🙂
Today has been a great Sunday. We were home from Knoxville by noon, which left time for cleaning, running, playing tennis with dad, cooking a yummy chicken dip (recipe courtesy of my friend, Alli!), eating Grandma’s cooking, and now half-way watching a movie with my parents.
To end this post I will wish one of my BEST friends Amy Skridulis a VERY happy 23rd birthday! Love you Ames!!!

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
