45 days…

I updated my wedding registries yesterday. I watched the “days to go” counter go from 550 to 46. It was awesome.

I don’t really feel like blogging right now, but I know I need to because my future self is going to want to read and remember the craziest seven weeks of my life – the planning of my beach wedding.

Holy cow. I’m having a beach wedding. In 45 days. How did this happen?! Someone pinch me…!

Here is a very, very, very, very, VERY brief summary of the last week:
-started discussing the idea of getting married before deployment with Jamie AGAIN while watching the Iron Bowl at his parent’s house in Austin (it’s important to know that Jamie has always felt that we should get married before deployment, but I didn’t want to several reasons. I like it to call it me being stubborn and focused on the wrong things.)
-48 hours later I’m sitting the airport tearing up because I’m so confused and torn.
-stumble upon pictures of a beach wedding on some wedding site I was looking at.
-firmly decide that a beach wedding is exactly what we NEED and want after talking with amy and her mom for two hours sunday night (God is sneaky. Of course this idea popped into my head RIGHT before I saw amy for the first time in five months. He knew she’d be my key to settling my confused head and heart.)
-discussed ideas with mom after work Monday
-discussed ideas with dad while Jamie was on speaker phone
-received dad’s blessing to start planning a wedding for Jan. 15

-GOING CRAZY EVER SINCE! 🙂

We have found the house where my family, bridesmaids, officiant, and photographer will stay. We will also get married on the beach in the “backyard” and have our reception in the living room (its huge!). Finding a house was challenging for many reasons, but we have found the perfect one.

The long set of stairs I will walk down to marry my love. *Sigh* 🙂
I met with my former youth minister and his beautiful and talented wife, who have agreed to be our officiant and photographer. They will be staying in a section off of our house with their two sweet daughters. I was so happy when Ted agreed to marry us that I started crying right there in Starbucks! Okay, maybe I’m a little overtired, but you just have to know Ted. Incredible man of God.
My dad is so calm, and mom is working her booty off. She is so awesome. Neither one of us has eaten much the last few days. It’s crazy how nerves and being busy will complete snap your appetite!
I ordered my dress in September, with an arrival date of March, but I called the Something Blue Shoppe to see if they could get in early and they said they could! I screamed at work, I was so happy!! That was Tuesday. Then I got a call this morning say that the designer mixed up my dress with another, and that my dress won’t be here for a few more months. I was upset at first, but the store has agree to just give me their store model. It’s only been put on a few times and is still perfect. Unfortunately it’s three inches two long and at least one size to big. Hello hundreds of dollars in alterations….!
I’ve emailed at least a dozen other vendors for information, and am hoping to get more things rolling.
Registry is done, wedding website is under construction, and the guestlist is almost complete. Whew. Love makes you do crazy things. 🙂
I need to go to bed before my eyelids snap shut, but I want to end on this note – Thank you so much to those who have called, texted, or facebooked me offering help, support, and love. I am far too blessed to be stressed. Seriously, THANK YOU!

More updates to come.

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
