Goals

I’ve received a lot of advice about how to handle this deployment in a healthy and enjoyable way.

The best advice I’ve gotten:
“Pick one big event to look forward to every single month, and the time will go by much faster.”

So I’m going to do just that, plus some! I have had a word document that I’ve been adding to the last few months as I thought of a new “goal” to achieve while Jamie is gone. Though I would not wish this deployment on my worst enemy, I am determined to make the most of the next 10 months. I want to be a healthier and happier wife who he is proud to come home to. 🙂 So, without further adieu, my list –

(In no particular order)
1. Complete a half-marathon
2. Visit Amy in Denver.
3. Visit Hannah (and now Mallory also!) in West Palm Beach, Florida.
4. Visit my sister (at least once) in her future new home of Enterprise, Alabama.
5. Visit the Armacost family (at least once) in Destin, Florida. She will be adding a new baby boy to the family in June 2011!
6. Go skydiving with Emily and Mallory.
7. Read at least two novels (of my choice – not for work) a month.
8. Send at least one BIG care package to Jamie a month
9. Finish the photobook I started of Jamie’s four years at West Point
10. Invest in a new camera.
11. Cook one decent meal at least once a week.
12. Find and join a women’s weekly bible study.
13. Travel to watch my brother run at least one cross country meet for college (it’ll be his third year and I still haven’t been to one meet…).
14. Attend one home Alabama football game.
15. Attend one away Alabama football game.
16. Stick as much moolah in savings as possible.

All of these should be attainable, even all of the traveling. After doing cross-country long distance with Jamie for three solid years, hopping on a plane last minute for a long-weekend trip is like second nature.

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
