There was a lot of stress involved with Jamie’s r&r homecoming.
Would I make it back from Denver in time? Would I be able to attend Amberlee’s first wedding shower? How will I be able to follow through with my commitment to bring three trays of food to the shower? How will I get Teddy back from my parents if Jamie gets in early?
Mom… Dad… you two are absolute SAINTS. I know I’ve told you this a zillion times, but I am SO thankful that you both were willing to do WHATEVER you could do to make things work for Jamie and me. I love you…. don’t forget it…
I was able to follow through with all of my long-time commitments this weekend, and I had finished everything I had to do. I got the call at noon Sunday that Jamie would be boarding for Nashville shortly and arrive at 1:36 p.m. With that news, I flew to the airport (63 miles away), got my pass to head to the gate, and waited there with my friend Becky and her three precious children. They were so excited to see their daddy!
When that Delta plane turned its nose toward the gate, my heart starting beating a mile a minute!
Even though I had “just” seen him seven weeks prior, Germany wasn’t exactly “a break”. Though I was SO BLESSED to have that time with Jamie, it was flat out stressful, and we couldn’t wait for r&r because we knew Germany wouldn’t hold a candle to him actually being HOME.
We knew they’d let the Army guys off first, so we stood there and waited. I was bouncing on my toes the whole time. I saw him before he saw me, and that gorgeous smile of his made my heart the happiest its ever been.
He’s home for a few weeks, and that’s the best Christmas gift I could ever ask for. The next few weeks are going to be awesome.
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
