So I lasted a whole 16 days without blogging! Go ahead and laugh! What was I thinking getting rid of my blog?! Writing has always been one of my BIGGEST passions, and I don’t think I realized that the only method of writing I do these days is through my blog! I definitely was totally done with this silly ‘ol thing a few weeks ago, but now I’m back in business. I have no idea how frequently I’ll post, but My Roaring Twenties is back folks. 🙂
HELLO from my fabulous hometown of Madison, Alabama, where it is currently a perfect 75 degrees and completely cloudless. I woke up this morning to let Teddy out, and when I came back to my still-sleeping husband I couldn’t wait to tell him just how gorgeous it was outside. As soon as I told him that I wanted to spend the day outside, he suggested a picnic for lunch down at Big Spring Park. Seriously? He’s the best. Before we headed out for lunch, we both knocked out a 5ish mile run. I used to want him to run with me, but I’m definitely over that! He runs MUCH faster than me, and I hate feeling like I am slowing him down. Nowadays he just runs with me during his “recovery” runs. 😉
He knocked out five miles and I knocked out 51 minutes (5.4 miles). With the Music City Half-Marathon less than two months away (!!!!!), we are definitely in training mode! I am working on increasing my minutes each week instead of miles. It’s easier for me to run X amount of minutes out and then turn around for a total of X amount of minutes instead of trying to figure out which route I will run to satisfy a certain amount of miles. It all makes perfect sense in my head, people. 🙂
Jamie’s done many marathons (and ultras – he’s kind of insane!) in the last few years, but he’s suffering from a pretty rough weight-lifting shoulder injury, so his runs have been a little slower lately. We are both anxious for him to start physical therapy next week.
So we ran, we picnicked (a Publix picnic at that!), and then came back to my parent’s house to swoop up Teddy and take him to the newest Madison greenway for a walk. He LOVED it. Jamie’s currently dead asleep next to me on the couch and I’m waiting for the next episode of Dr. Phil. This is the good life.
So the past two weeks have been (dare I say) some of the best weeks of my life. Since the moment he got home we have had so stinkin’ much fun together. Married life with him has been better than I imagined. We have spent so much time with different friends the last few weeks, and we love finally having “couple friends”. We’ve equally loved our quiet nights at home, which have been filled with Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, cooking our meals together, playing endless games of Racko, and usually being the old people we are and falling asleep by 9:30. I’ve been subbing almost every day lately while he’s been doing Reintegration, so we’ve kept busy! I’m only doing a couple Rachel’s Challenge events a month this Spring, so subbing has kept me busy. Can’t say I love it though, that’s for dang sure.
We’ve spent the last two Sundays at a new church called Awaken in downtown Clarksville, and we both really love the preacher and his style. He has the best mix of biblical teaching mixed with real-life application. Our friends Josh and Stephanie England have been attending there a while, so I really credit Steph with inviting me to go with her before Jamie got home. It feels great to be back in church together, and we’re really enjoying the new series on Revelation that they’re doing right now.
The best night we’ve had since Jamie got home was this past Friday night. Jamie knew how bummed out I was that he wasn’t home for our first anniversary, but he REALLY made up for it! He booked us a fabulous balcony room at the Opryland hotel, made reservations at The Melting Pot (my favorite restaurant), had champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries delivered to the room, secured breakfast vouchers, the whole nine yards. I cannot begin to tell you how impressed I was! He had a smile on his face all night because he knew how truly happy his efforts made me.
We are really looking forward to the weekend! We’re spending time in Birmingham and seeing lots of people that we haven’t seen in while. Saturday will be jam-packed, and we can’t wait!
Whew, that was a lot of catching up! Hope all is well wherever you are reading this!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
