I’m a few days behind on this post according to the schedule I posted last week, but here goes “What’s on your NIGHTSTAND?”.
Besides turning on the lamp, I left everything as it was when I woke up this morning. I love to decorate but I’m not awesome at it, so everything you see is pretty functional and basic.
I bought the Pottery Barn clock with a wedding gift card from Abbie Caldwell (isn’t it funny how you can still remember who gave you what for your wedding? At least I do! I have no idea how!), and I love it because it’s so classic-looking and will always have a place somewhere in our home. If unlimited money to Pottery Barn could just fall out of the sky… ah.
The picture frame is from Target and another wedding gift (I was actually gifted three of them for our wedding!), and it still has the original picture I put in it. I have changed out the pictures in the frames around my house several times, but I’ve always kept that one the same. It was taken in Madison at my parent’s home on Christmas Day 2010, exactly three weeks before our wedding day. We woke up to a surprise winter wonderland, and I remember the entire family being on cloud nine. It was such a beautiful, perfect Christmas morning, so that picture is special to me.
I got the lamp from TJ Maxx a couple of years ago, and it matches perfectly with our new quilt set.
I seem to always have some kind of hair accessories on my nightstand, often from wearing them while washing my face at night and then taking them off when I get in bed.
Finally, there are so many things that I love about my new devotional that I picked up from Hastings a few weeks back. It’s not just a devotional but a full-length bible. The scripture readings that go with each day’s devotional are in chronological order from Genesis through Revelation, which I’ve never done before. Finally, I love that it’s a part of the Love Languages series. Very real applications for a healthier marriage.
Today is day five of the cleanse, and things are fitting looser and I’m still feeling really good. I’ve had egg sandwiches the past two morning, and I wasn’t in the mood for that or a shake (I usually have one or the other). I woke up around six and starting searching online for what else I could make. I saw a recipe I’d pinned a few weeks ago for an AdvoCare vanilla pancake made with a shake powder packet, so I gave it a go!
Yuck yuck yuck! No thank you. Not only did they not cook right (I know how to cook pancakes, y’all), but they were nasty. Straight up gross. Don’t try it. Sometimes cutting corners to make a meal healthier turns out really well, but not today. I’ll stick with the real thing!
I wasn’t about to skip breakfast though, so I’m enjoying a big bowl of green grapes as we speak and will be better breakfast planning for tomorrow. 🙂
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
