Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
Finding Out That We’ll Be PCSing to Fort Riley, Kansas
Well, we found out this afternoon that Jamie’s next duty station will be Fort Riley.
We’ll be moving to Manhattan, Kansas in September for what looks like two to three years.
As I type this, I’m still in a little bit of shock. I need to sort out my thoughts. To be honest, Fort Riley came completely out of left field.
When Jamie called me with the news, I immediately thought of my sister. She and Josh are stationed there now, and we’ll hopefully be there together for at least six months. In hindsight, I wish I would have recorded my sister’s reaction when I told her. It was pretty priceless! I know Jamie and Josh are going to have a heck of a time together, and I’m pumped for Hadley to spend max time with her aunt and uncle. My father-in-law also works in Kansas City (Fort Leavenworth), so being closer to him will be nice. For now, I’m focused on those positives.
I know that this sudden curveball will turn out for the best, just like the title and slogan of this blog references.
Looks like I’ll have another “September” to add to my “About the Title”. If you would have told me in September 2013 that in one year we’d be finished with career course in Arizona and be settling into our home in Kansas, I would have laughed.
But it’s happening.
Little Apple, here come the DeSpains.
