Happy Monday! Today we have some brief catching up to do.
Today marks four years since Jamie gave me the surprise of my life and asked me to marry him. Sweet memories!
I don’t even know where the last two weeks went, but sure enough Hadley and I are almost packed and ready for our flight back to Arizona in a few hours. We are missing Jamie like crazy and are ready to be back together as a family again; FaceTime is just not cutting it anymore! I imagined that two weeks away would be a piece of cake considering the amount of deployment time we’ve endured, but I think the feeling of missing someone is relative no matter how long the amount of time apart may be.
I originally planned a two-week trip because I wanted to try and squeeze in time with as many people as I could (spending time with my family and friends makes my world go round). I mentioned last week that I was able to do a little central-Alabama tour to see a few people, and I’ve also been able to soak up time with my parents too. I don’t think I’ve mentioned on the blog yet that one of the highlights of this trip was getting to hug my army wife BFF Jessica who drove down from Clarksville to spend the day/night with Hadley, me, and my family. Our 24 hours together consisted of dinner, shopping, playing with Hadley, sitting outside talking and sipping wine with my parents and grandmother, staying up another couple more hours and talking some more, going on a morning walk, eating at Panera, yadda yadda yadda. Nothing special, but that’s what made her visit great.
We’ve only been friends for two years, but I’m not sure how I ever lived without her! We share a freakish amount in common, and sometimes I’d swear we’re the same person. I may or may not have cried for 2.5 seconds after she left because I’m five years old and just have a tough time with all of these frequent see ya laters. In trying my best to look at the bright side of things, I am strangely thankful for the tears when saying goodbye to her and other army friends because it means that we are all really trying to make the most of this journey.
This past weekend was a pretty eventful one! Jamie’s cousin Scott got married in Indiana (he was a groomsman) and one of my best friends Amy got married in Chattanooga (I was a bridesmaid).
Oh yeah, and like the two crazy kids we are, we signed a bunch of contracts (via DocuSign on our iPhones – Technology these days is crazy! says Mom) and bought ourselves a house in good ole Manhattan, Kansas. It has a craft room and a sunroom and a really nice master shower (all things we don’t need but are welcomed perks!) and I think I might just die and go to heaven.
I didn’t take either one of these pictures because neither Jamie nor I have actually seen the house. Did I mention we’re crazy?
More on this house-buying stuff that you probably don’t care about anyway and Amy’s wedding (it was really, really beautiful) in future posts. Stay tuned.
Gotta get out the door for a breakfast date with my friend Emily before hoppin’ this plane! I also really need one last Panera fix before heading back to my Panera-less town. Wahhh.
Have a great day!
PS – Can someone please refer this girl to a web designer?! I am trying my darndest to make this site look fancy, and I’m just messing it up! Help! Please email me at WhimsicalSeptember@yahoo.com if you have a referral!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
