A Day in the Life of Hadley – Eight Months Old

When I was around Hadley’s age, my parents rented a camcorder and taped me all day long. They put the footage on a VHS and wrote “A Day in the Life of Erica” on the label. They’ve referred back to how special that video was/is for as long as I can remember.
Jamie and I really can’t get over how much Hadley changes every single day it seems, so I started thinking a couple of weeks ago about making my own “Day in the Life of” collection. I picked yesterday, Wednesday, July 16th because I knew that it would be a very normal day and representative of how life really is taking care of my girl on a day-to-day basis here in our rental house in Arizona.
[ NOTE ] – I have several videos in this post that may not work on a mobile device (at least they don’t on mine). I apologize in advance.
Welcome to A Day in the Life of Hadley – Weekday Edition!
I heard her whining at 6:40 a.m., and Hadley DeSpain was ready to get up for the day.
Though she’d prefer to immediately get a bottle, I had to change Miss Wiggleworm’s diaper first.
When we came downstairs, Jamie had an 8 oz. bottle ready to go.
They enjoyed a few minutes of routine morning playtime before Jamie had to head to work.
After she finished her bottle and Jamie left, I strapped Hadley into the jogging stroller for a short run.
When we got back from the run, I set her down on the carpet to crawl around while I made a glass of rehydrate, and during the five seconds I had my back turned she managed to dump Teddy’s water bowl. She thought it was awesome!
Once I drank my rehydrate and cleaned up the mess, it was time for Hadley to eat again. She got a few baby finger foods so that she could work on pinching and feeding herself while I got her baby food, spoon, and bib together.
Teddy absolutely loves this finger food stage!
I heard my phone go off, and in the time I turned around to grab it, she reached out and dumped her food. We are a mess this morning!
After I cleaned her up, she had a little bit of independent play time with her favorite toy basket.
We also did a little bit of morning storytime.
Playtime didn’t last long. By 9:15 a.m. she was beyond ready for nap #1. She slept for an hour and a half, and after her nap I found her standing up in baby jail ready to get out.
I had just turned the shower on when I heard her wake up, so I scooped her up, changed her diaper, and put her in her walker in my bathroom while I took a shower. She didn’t mind!
After I got out of the shower I was starving for lunch, so I put her in her bumbo seat while I fixed something to eat.
While I ate lunch, she enjoyed going to town in her bouncer while half-way watching Disney Jr.
After about 20 minutes in her bouncer, she let me know loud and proud that she was ready for another bottle! While I was fixing her bottle, she chased Teddy over to me. I’m sandwiched in by my kids! 😉
After she finished her 8 oz. bottle, we got ready to do a big grocery trip! I changed her diaper and picked out a headband.
These pictures were taken towards the beginning of our hour-long shopping trip. She started getting fidgety and whiny about half way through, but I came armed with snacks to keep her preoccupied.
I had plans to run a couple more super quick errands, but Hadley was rubbing her eyes hard! I scratched my other errands and put her straight to bed when we got home. After bringing in my groceries I went back upstairs to check on her, and she was out cold for nap #2 around 1:45 p.m.
She woke up around 3:30 and was ready to eat an early dinner. The Disney channel was way too distracting though!
We are working hard on figuring out the sippy cup. It’s tough being a baby!
Where there’s a Hadley and snacks, there’s a Teddy close by!
After she finished eating, I sat down to pay a bill while she banged on the back door for 10 minutes.
Shortly after, she got another 8 oz. bottle and bounced in her jumper while waiting for Jamie to get home.
While Jamie took off his boots and told me about his day, Hadley had a little bit more independent play time.
Once Jamie got changed, he suggested we go on a short walk while waiting for dinner to be ready (I had some pineapple-salsa chicken going in the crockpot).
Towards the end of our walk, Hadley went a little loco. I fixed her a small bottle since she didn’t want to finish hers from earlier, but she wasn’t having it. It was only 5:55 p.m., so Jamie laid her down in her crib for a cat nap.
A 20 minute snooze was all she needed apparently!
It wasn’t quite bedtime yet, so we went out back to do some swinging.
Around 7 we started her bedtime routine. Jamie got her undressed while I started her bath water.
Bath time has been her favorite part of the day since she was around four months old.
After her bath, Jamie did her baby lotion massage and put on her overnight diaper and jammies while I picked out a book to read.
After we read her Hug-A-Bible, she sucked down an 8 oz. bottle.
Jamie could hear me putting her in her crib, so he came in to give her a kiss goodnight. She lit up when she saw him.
We ended the night by praying over her and calling it a night ourselves. Ready to do it all again today. I love you, Hadley Boo!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
