If you’re wondering where I’ve been this week, I’ve been on the phone for three straight days figuring out whether or not we’re going to be homeless in two weeks. As of this morning, we are officially 10 days from arriving in Kansas, 11 days from our walk-through, and 12 days from closing.
Two problems. The bank put a big fat halt on our loan because of a major appraisal issue, and there’s also a sunroom addition that a previous owner never got a permit to build and is therefore illegal as far as the city is concerned. Can you say headache?
Jamie had a pretty stern (tactful) conversation with our realtor a couple days ago, so we’re feeling great that the ball is in everybody else’s court – the mortgage lender’s, our realtor’s, and the seller’s. We’ve given our realtor a short list of issues that need to be worked out (with paperwork to show) by closing or we will not be buying this house. Needless to say, they’re scrambling.
We love this house so (so so so so) much, but we’re so relieved that potential financially-devastating situations were uncovered when they were. Here’s to hoping the folks in Kansas can work a miracle and get things in order! We’re prayerful that the right outcome plays out either way.
In other PCS (permanent change of station) news, I have several to-do lists ready (in true Erica fashion) to help us tackle the move-out next week. There’s a class graduation cookout Sunday, graduation Wednesday, packers Thursday, and movers Friday! I’m flying my sister in Thursday to give me a hand with Hadley during the 1,300 mile drive, and I am counting down the days until she’s here! I’m so excited to road trip with her.
Question: What’s one moving tip that alleviated a lot of stress for your family?
Hope you’re having a great week, friends!
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
