A Picture Perfect Snowy Morning

For Christmas this year my sister and I arranged and purchased a professional photography session for our family. Getting the whole gang together can be challenging (as I’m sure it can be for many families who live states apart), so when we knew that we’d all be together for Hadley’s first birthday party we jumped at the chance to have some photos taken.
Our talented photographer in Tennessee (Captured Moments by Angela) used to be stationed here at Fort Riley, so I asked her months ago for a few suggestions of reputable photographers. She immediately suggested La Brisa Photography, and I knew as soon as I looked at Autumn’s work that she was the perfect person to photograph our family.
We scheduled the pictures for 9-11 a.m. on Saturday, November 15th, but we began getting increasingly nervous as we watched the weather in the days leading up to Saturday. The snow chance was climbing higher and higher, and we were all nervous that these pictures were going to be a slushy mess. The night before the pictures the weather predicted 100% snowfall from 9-11 a.m. Perfecto.
We decided to keep Hadley bundled up of course, but the rest of us knuckleheads chose to brave the cold and keep our coats off in most pictures in an attempt to get the best pictures. Our two hour session turned into 40 minutes because we were all frozen to the core, but we knew due to our photographer’s excitement that we’d nailed some great wintery pictures.

Later on that afternoon my dad made a comment about how even though we were less than comfortable taking those pictures in the freezing snowfall, we sure were making some fabulous family memories. It’s all about perspective, and I totally agreed with his.
