Four Years

Four years ago today we were married on the most beautiful day on the most beautiful beach. We were surrounded by the 100 people who love us the most as we exchanged vows and committed to do the rest of our lives together. Pretty big deal!

In four years we’ve moved three times, bought two houses (insanity), rented one townhouse, adopted one rescue dog, tackled two Afghanistan deployments (more insanity), traveled to Europe and Central America, visited dozens of cities across the country, and welcomed one beautiful blue-eyed baby girl into the world. And we’ve done every lick of it together.

Like all marriages, we’ve had our share of high highs and low lows. We’ve had many moments where I’d swear that marriage is the easiest walk in the park and many moments where we’ve had to really, really fight to move forward. But the thing I love most about our marriage is that we always get over it. Always. Because getting over it has always been our only alternative. We’re in this for life, baby. Together.

Marrying Jamie was honestly the easiest decision I’ve ever made. I never doubted for a second if I was making a wrong turn. Four years ago I woke up giddy with excitement to just get married already! All I wanted was Jamie. I didn’t know how to cook or take care of a home or handle big Army wife roles. I couldn’t have foreseen some of the trials we’ve experienced together, but I knew that there was nobody else out there that I wanted to walk through all of it with, and I knew he wanted me.

Happy fourth anniversary to my love and my partner for life. I’m immensely grateful for the beautiful gift of marriage and that God gave me you to share life’s joys and hardships with. I love you, Jamie DeSpain.

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo

Meet Erica

I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 5, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!)

I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
