Stitch Fix #7 – May 2015

I wasn’t expecting my latest Stitch Fix box until Wednesday, so I was thrilled to see it on my front porch late Monday night when we got back from Indianapolis. As soon as we unloaded the car I got right to ripping open the box and trying everything on. Jamie thought I was a little loco for trying on clothes at 11 p.m., but he also knows how absolutely tickled I get over new Stitch Fix boxes!

Note: Please disregard the combination of DSLR and cell phone pictures. I’m still working hard at figuring out my new lens. It’s great for close ups, but for full length shots it’s tough! Tiiiiime to take a class! 😉

The first thing I reached for was this beautiful top. I was drawn to the color, and the material is awesome. It has some embroidered detailing that starts on the shoulders and continues about a quarter of the way down my back. Really pretty!

The next item I reached for was this beautiful dress! It fits really well, and besides being a teeny bit longer than I prefer (maybe an inch or two), it’s a great piece. It’s light enough that I could wear it in the middle of July, but it has a liner underneath that offers the thickness I like. We’re hosting a BBQ this weekend, and I could see myself wearing this dress!

I like this next shirt better on and in pictures than I did when I first grabbed it out of the box. It’s super wrinkly, but I’m wondering now after looking at this picture if it’s supposed to be that way. I absolutely love the cut and fit of it, but I don’t see this one washing and wearing well at all. If it was much cheaper, than maybe. Not a keeper.

These shorts are 110%, hands down the most comfortable shorts I’ve ever put on. They’re made by a company that also designed a pair of jeans I kept a few months ago, which explains why they’re so dang comfortable! I want to keep these shorts so bad, but I’m not a fan of the print. Do you see that horizontal pink stripe on them? As soon as I put them on and showed my husband he said “Why is there a big stained stripe on them?” That was the nail in the coffin I needed to send these back.

Because I love the brand and fit so much, I’m going to request these shorts again next month in a different pattern (crossing my fingers that that’s a possibility).
I’m having such a love/hate relationship with this dress. I love the fit but don’t like the bouncy material. I’m also not jumping up and down over the print. We’re hoping to go on a cruise in a few months, and I’m thinking this dress would be perfect for that type of thing, but I already know I’d never wear it otherwise.

What is Stitch Fix?

Stitch Fix is a stop-anytime apparel subscription service that sends customers five pieces of clothing and accessories once a month (or more or less depending on one’s preferences) based on price points that one designates in her profile. Stitch Fix stylists hand-pick what to send each customer based on one’s online profile created upon sign up. Customers are charged a $20 styling fee upfront per shipment, but the styling fee is later applied to any item(s) the customers chooses to keep.  If one chooses to send back all five items, Stitch Fix keeps the $20 fee. A customer’s best bet is to keep at least one item since $20 has already been paid. Stitch Fix also includes a prepaid bad to send all unwanted items back. If a customer chooses to keep all five items, she gets a 25% discount off of the entire box. So awesome! I love this concept of shopping!

Additional note: As of a couple months ago, Stitch Fix now offers petite sizes and maternity styles!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
