Slice of Life – 7/31/15

Happy Friday! After a couple really full weekends, we’re looking forward to a blank slate kind of weekend and enjoying some quiet family time. Here’s a slice of life from the past three weeks. 🙂

The weekend before I left for New York we enjoyed a fabulous and spontaneous double date with some of our great friends, Meg & Chris. We enjoyed dinner and drinks at a few places in Aggieville (KSU’s strip of restaurants, bars, coffee shops, etc.) before heading over to a concert in the park to listen to a CCR cover band. Much-needed fun!

When it’s hasn’t been 100+ degrees out, we’ve been outside playing with chalk. So many of her chalk sticks are already down to nubs because of how often she’s outside drawing lines. 😉 She’s quite obsessed!
She’s also really into stickers and her coloring books! One night recently I was cooking dinner and turned around to this site. I died laughing! It look about five baths to get all the sticker residue completely off of her.
If you follow me on Instagram then you’ve probably seen this picture of the bananas that have taken over my house! Hadley eats demands between two and three bananas a day, and since she’s a picky eater anyway, I don’t mind giving her this snack. Jamie and Hadley plowed through all of these in six days.
We are so enjoying the sweet corn we got from Baldwin Farms last week! Yum!

Our very first friends that we made at Fort Campbell drove over to visit us from Colorado Springs last weekend, and I was so happy to see these cuties reunited! Hadley loved having friends at her house to play with her all weekend. Landon just turned three in May, Grace is 18 months, and Hadley is 20 months.
During their trip we visited one of our favorite local spots, Blue Earth Plaza.

After some water fun we walked over to have lunch at Radina’s Bakehouse. Check out those curls/waves Hadley’s finally getting! She’s bald no more (finally)!

The county fair was in town the same weekend that the Rings were visiting, and lucky for us we live less than half a mile from the fairgrounds! Instead of fighting for parking, we loaded up the kids in our wagon and headed down.

I wasn’t sure how Hadley would react to her first solo carnival ride, but she ABSOLUTELY LOVED IT! As soon as it started moving she held on tight to the bar in front of her and quickly fell into a fit of giggles. It was so precious! Even time she got ready to pass us she’d point and say “Mama!” or “Dada!”, and we were loving it!

Because this ferris wheel was a little more secure than the last one we went on during the 4th of July weekend, we decided to give it a go. Hadley is brave when she wants to be. 🙂 She’s a big fan of these carnivals.

Finally a pic of our dear friends. We loved every second of their visit!
Of course we had to hit up the local pool on Sunday because when it’s 101 degrees out, there’s not much else to do!
House question: I  have no clue what color to paint my front door. Right now it’s an awful pale yellow that has got to go. I’d love some suggestions if you have any!

My little sister through the BBBS program is the absolute BEST with Hadley! She was over hanging out a few days ago and was trying to teach Hadley how to hold crayons correctly. Hadley thinks she’s the best thing ever! We love her.

My friend Annie from Rocky Mountain Bliss sent me a coupon for three complimentary meals from Blue Apron, and Jamie and I were pumped! We received our box of food a few days ago, and so far we’ve made one out of the three meals. So far, so good!

I think it’s so funny to watch Hadley’s interests change as fast as they do. Sometimes we’ll go to the library and she’ll be obsessed with climbing things. Other times she just wants to stand on the window seat and yell at the cars going by. A few days ago she was all about the puppets. She was very meticulous with getting them out one by one and laying them down across the bench.

This is our popsicle spot and she knows it! We’ve been here after dinner most days this week.

And that’s about it! Hope you have a nice weekend! I’ll see you back here on Monday.

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
