Slice of Life 7/9/15

First things first, I want to wish a very happy 24th birthday to my little brother David! We sure do love you!

We’re still over here just enjoying a slow paced summer. Jamie’s job is shaking things up for us a bit in a few months, so we’re enjoying lots of family time while we can get it.

Here’s a recent slice of our lives as told through my iPhone. 🙂

I feel like I can see an angel and a devil in this picture. The angel side of Teddy is saying that definitely knows better than eating my dinner, but the devil side is telling him to just go ahead and ask for forgiveness later. 😉 I found him like this when I left for a sec to walk Hadley down the hall to wash her hands when she got up from eating, but I couldn’t help but crack up and take a picture. Love my little buddy so stinkin’ much! He hasn’t made an appearance on the blog in a few months (I think), so he was due.

{kitchen bench from World Market}

Jamie’s parents and brother spent the weekend with us a couple weeks ago, and we brought them over to one of our favorite summer hangouts after dinner so Hadley could splash around. Jamie’s mom jumped right in there with her and they had fun!

I got this picture of Hadley and Jamie’s brother (Hadley’s Uncle B) when I was out running errands, and it really made me smile. We were so happy he came in town from Texas to visit us. We love you Bren! (PS – Elizabeth, if you’re reading this, notice the book. It’s still her favorite!)
The weather was crazy hot during their visit, so making a trip to the pool was a must. Jamie’s dad grabbed Hadley her first ice cream sandwich and she was a fan!

Say hellooooo to my latest obsession – my Calia by Carrie Underwood fruit infusion water bottle. I scooped it up a few weeks ago when I was in Dick’s Sporting Goods getting some new running shoes and just couldn’t say no. Just couldn’t. I loooooove it! It doesn’t hold as much water as my CamelBak but that hasn’t been a problem because, refills.

OKAY, so I treated myself to two things at Dick’s! I confessed to Jamie immediately and thankfully he was okay with it. 😉 These shorts by Carrie Underwood are 100% awesome for hanging around the house and running errands and 75% awesome for running. The little flaps in the front ride up a bit when I run, but I’ve run in them a half dozen times now and have quickly gotten used to it. As for wearing them when I’m not running – SMITTEN. So comfy. Also, excuse the post-workout hair.

I don’t usually take selfies in my workout clothes, but I was sending these to a friend who asked. 😉
Don’t let her face fool you. She’s the town’s #1 fan of our local pool’s water slide (and I’m right behind her at #2). So fun!
Sorry for the blurry pic, but this little bug bite and weird streak scared the mess out of us a couple weeks ago! We found it on a Sunday morning when we were relaxing before church, and a couple hours later we ended up taking her to the emergency room. The streak was a sign that the bug bite was infected, but since there wasn’t anything to drain the doctor said that the bite likely wasn’t anything too serious. She got started on some antibiotics right away though. Over the next few days about 25 chigger bites popped up all over her diaper area (front and back), so that had us back at the doctor. Thankfully it was just a case of bad bites that had to run their course.
The ankle band they gave her at the hospital was too much for her. She was so irritated by it!
He’s always in Heaven when she sleeps on him after he gets her out of the car. These two. #AllTheHeartEyes

Since we’re very close to the time zone line between CST and MST, it doesn’t get dark until around 9:30 here these days. We figured Hadley wouldn’t see any fireworks on the 4th of July because she’d be asleep, but she must have known something was up because she was still bright-eyed when they started. She hung outside with us for about half an hour watching them, and she really loved it. Super cute!

Remember when I talked about our ferris wheel ride earlier this week? I took this picture from the top of it when we were waiting to get off (of course we got stopped at the top – terrifying I tell you). The town 4th of July parade was only 15 minutes from starting, and I just thought it was so cute seeing everybody on this old, adorable street waiting for this small town parade to start.

Look at ‘dem legs! 😉 There’s my man running in to take the 5th place finish in Saturday’s 10K race.

My MIL generously gifted me a starter kit of Young Living Essential Oils, and I’ve had so much fun the last couple days dabbling with them! I posted this picture on Instagram and Facebook asking for tips for how to use them, and I got some awesome feedback. I’ve already made a face wash as well as rubbed some lavender on Hadley’s massively scraped up knee. Excited to keep playing with the kit!

I don’t have a stainless range or pretty backsplash, but somehow my one year old daughter does. 😉 Hadley is loving (x10) her new kitchen (found here on Amazon)! I’m also loving how entertained it’s kept her lately. I feel like this is such a timeless toy that will stay in our family for years and years to come. I even mentioned something about giving it to Hadley’s kids one day, and Jamie looked at me like I had four heads. Too soon? 😉

Does anybody else think peacocks are just beautiful? We bopped around the Manhattan zoo this week, and all the male peacocks had their feathers fluffed up and doing their thing as we were leaving. I think these birds are such a sight to see and love how our zoo lets them roam around so that we can get near them.
And that’s about it!

1.) Do you use Essential Oils? If so, what are your best tips for usage?

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
