Modern Table Meals a Slam Dunk For the Whole Family

The following post is brought to you by Modern Table. Thank you so much for supporting the brands that support Whimsical September!

If you’ve had a face-to-face conversation with me any time in the last couple of weeks then surely I’ve mentioned Hadley’s diet concerns that have been weighing heavily on me (sorry for all my venting, friends). In a nutshell, homegirl is way too busy to eat and really only eats to survive. Otherwise she’d much rather be wreaking havoc somewhere like most toddlers do. 🙂

Though she’s never been a huge eater, I’ve always been really thankful that she has a few “good for you” staples such as oatmeal and scrambled eggs. Recently she’s decided that even those staples are for the birds and would rather feed them to Teddy before I can catch her.

Recently I was driving home from a pool party and was near tears explaining to my mom on the phone how Hadley hadn’t eaten dinner in five days because she refused whatever we gave her, and I flat out refused to give in and serve her junk (because I knew she’d like it and come to expect it which would create a bigger problem).

As soon as we got home I plopped Hadley in the living room with her toys and decided to pull out a bag of Modern Table’s Homestyle Mac and Cheese that we’d received in the mail that day.

I had high hopes that she would love this and we’d finally end her “not eating dinner” streak. I was also looking forward to cooking this meal because I was zapped from the pool and the last thing I wanted to do was cook dinner.

15 minutes later I served Hadley a bowl and waited to see what she thought.

She’s being very cautious and taking a bite…

… and now she’s decided that she thinks she likes it but needs to use her fingers to make sure she’s tasted it all the way.

Bite number two is quickly underway! A few minutes later I was calling my mom back squealing that  the “not eating dinner” streak was over and that she loved Modern Table! Thank. You. Lord.

Nothing to see over here, Mom! Just devouring my dinner!

Fifteen minutes later she was up to wash her hands with an almost empty bowl! I never knew that getting your kid to eat could feel like such a victory.

Once Jamie got home I served both of us bowls of the mac and cheese as well, and it quickly did a disappearing act. Delicious!

Since then we’ve had Modern Table meals for dinner every other night (and I’m not kidding), and we cannot get enough! There are so many things that make this pasta brand a major slam dunk in my book that will keep us as customers for a while.

  1. The only necessary ingredient that several of these meals need is olive oil. Everything else is included in the bag.
  2. Making this meal takes 15 minutes from the time you open the bag to the time it’s on the table. Boil the water, cook the pasta, mix up the sauce, and toss with pasta!
  3. Most importantly, it’s super healthy and leaves me feeling guilt-free about what I’m serving my husband and my toddler.
Jamie really loved the Teriyaki kind and made sure to grab a second bowl.

Hadley and I are both huge fans of the pesto kind, and she even ate the peas that are snuck in there with it (included in the bag).

Yum-o!

A few things about Modern Table that make them a wonderful, speedy alternative for health-conscious, on-the-go families:

  1. All of the pastas are protein-rich and bean-based.
  2. There’s 13-24 g of protein and 5-7 g of fiber per serving.
  3. There’s no artificial colors or preservatives (!!!!!).
  4. All flavors (except for Teriyaki) are gluten-free.
  5. All flavors are non-GMO.
  6. All products are vegetarian and two flavors are vegan.
You can visit Modern Table’s website here to find out if their meals are sold near you (Mom, run to Target or Earth Fare quick!). If they’re not in a store near you yet, you can order online here. At minimum, pop on over to their website anyway and take a look around at the different flavors they offer.

Don’t see the Mac and Cheese or Pesto flavors on their website? Don’t fret! They’ll be available in the next week! Wahoo! Don’t forget to order a couple bags for your kiddos (…or you, duh).

Finally, Modern Table occasionally offers big discounts via their social media sites, so please consider joining me in following them on the social media site of your choice so you can keep an eye out for these discounts.

Let’s chat!

1) What have you done in the past to handle picky eaters?

2) Which flavor are you the most interested in trying? (We can’t wait to try the Southwest and Mediterranean flavors!)

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
