Toddlers are just the funniest little creatures. π Some days are so full of nothing but smiles and belly laughs and other days with tears and bad behavior that seemingly comes from out of nowhere. Hadley understands so much, and though her communication gets better every single day, she’s obviously in a frustrating stage where her brain is going much faster than she can communicate out loud!
I’ve said this about every single stage of her life so far, but Jamie and I agree that the one she’s in right now is our favorite to date. WeΒ can’t get enough of watching her grow in every area of her life!
Here’s a slice of our lives lately. π
Jamie’s parents (Hadley’s Miya and Papaw) got her this car as an early birthday gift! We’re so happy she got it early so that we can use it outside while enjoying this awesome fall weather. Check out what a little gentleman her buddy Jack is being. One arm on the wheel and one arm around Hadley. π
Saturday was one of those days where Hadley’s behavior was down the toilet. One second she was loving our activities and being out as a family, and the next she was flipped out and ready to go home. She was so excited to pick out a “puh-kin” (as she calls it), but right afterward she let us know loud and clear that she was DONE.
As if I didn’t love the Parents As Teacher program enough already, they host little field trips too! On Saturday we joined about 15 other families for a tour of the local fire station. π
Here’s Hadley about to crawl through the tunnel as practice in case she has to crawl on her belly during a real fire. π The whole tour was pretty cute!
After getting home from a morning with friends last week, Hadley sacked out in her chair in the living room before I could put her down for a nap. This girl never falls asleep anywhere but her car seat or her crib, so this was pretty unusual. She played hard!
We’re super into paint right now, so she had a blast painting with friends at Blueville Nursery’s kid day!
Jamie’s FRG function last week had airbrushed face paint for the kids, but she didn’t want to be painted on until she saw Jamie do it. As soon as he had paw prints on his hand, she threw both of her hands out to be painted on. If it was okay for Daddy, it was safe for her. π
The FRG function was at our local zoo, and they brought out all kinds of smaller animals for the kids to see while we were there. It was definitely one of the better family FRG events!
Of course Minnie had to come to the zoo or major tears would have ensued. She really loves Minnie everything!
I didn’t put up many pictures from our cruise (I only took a few), but here’s one from our day at the Playa Mia beach club! We had the little fish eat away at our feet, and I was a giggling fool for at LEAST the first five minutes because it tickled! I’d seen this done on TV but never in real life! Sure enough our feet felt fabulous afterwards. Kind of gross, kind of super cool.
We met up with my cousin Amanda and her precious family (husband Jason and kiddos Shae and Robinson) the night before our cruise when we were in Tampa! They brought us to a great local restaurant, and we really had the best time! I know we would spend a ton of time with them if we lived nearby. It was definitely a tease seeing them only for one night, but it was still so, so good to spend time together.
Before flying out of Birmingham to Tampa we were able to quickly run by my brother’s new house and catch up with him! He purchased his first home a few months, and I was the last family member to see it. Super proud of him! Side note: He’s on a journey to run a 100-mile race in one month, and he’s been blogging about his journey. You can check out his site here. He’s an incredibly gifted writer.
I love this picture of my dad and Hadley. She was eating a bedtime snack and Dad sat down to join her. It looks like they’re having a whole conversation!
Hadley’s nana (her great-grandmother) scored major points with her when she gave her her first lollipop! She was one big sticky, happy mess!
And that’s what we’ve been up to! Hope you have a wonderful week. π
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
