Motherhood Â· Traveling 21 Comments

First Day in Destin + Toddler Road Trip Essentials

Popping in from Florida to say hello and good afternoon! My sister and brother-in-law PCSed (moved) down here about three months ago, and Hadley and I couldn’t get here fast enough!

I know it’s really hard for them to live somewhere so beautiful.

Yea, right. 🙂

The drive normally takes about 5.5 hours from my parent’s house, but thankfully having a two year old in tow only added an extra half hour. Traveling with her throughout the last week has been far from a headache (except for when she threw up everywhere – ew) thanks to a few new road trip must-haves: movies on her KindleFire Kids Edition ($99), the Kindle headrest mount ($15), and her car seat snack and play tray ($23.50).

Her tray helps to make sure all of her little figurines that she’s obsessed with don’t fall on the floor, and it also helps with feeding her snacks. The Kindle keeps her totally entertained as long as I’ve downloaded movies ahead of time. The mount was a cinch to attach to the headrest and allows for me to take the Kindle in and out easily. Thanks to these three things, putting 1,600 miles in the car in seven days hasn’t been anywhere close to painful. Honestly!

My sister’s house is only a quick five minute walk from the beach, so right after we brought our stuff inside yesterday we booked it to the beach before the sun went down. We hadn’t been to the beach since May, so I wasn’t sure if she’d remember it and how interested in the sand and water she would be.

Needless to say we booked it right back to the beach this morning for another hour of beach fun.

Looking forward to a few more days here before we head on to our next stop!

Erica

Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
