Do you have a routine for keeping up with eyebrow maintenance? I remember getting my eyebrows waxed for the first time around 8th grade after begging my mom to let me. My eyebrows grow in quickly and thick, and if I don’t have a professional helping to maintain their shape every once in a while they start looking a little on the wild side.
Threading
Depending on where we’ve lived has depended on how I’ve cared for my brows. In Tennessee I began threading my brows, and I went in to see “my lady” twice a month. I adored her! Though I find threading to be one of the more painful options, I’m always impressed by how arched my brows are afterwards.
Waxing
Last year when we briefly lived in Arizona there wasn’t someone local who did eyebrow threading, so I stuck with tweezing at home and going in for an occasional wax once every few months. Though waxing cleans up my brows very well, I don’t find that normal waxing at a hair or nail salon does anything to revitalize my brow’s natural arch.
Plucking
I have so many girlfriends who claim they only have to pluck their brows around once a week (or less) and that they’re easily able to maintain their natural shape this way. Though I try hard not to over pluck my brows, I still struggle to maintain shapely brows with just plucking alone. I’d love to be one of my girlfriends who label their brows as low maintenance. 🙂
Tattooing
I personally know a couple of people who have actually tattooed their eyebrows on, and both of them look amazing and natural! I’ve read that some people will have their brows laser removed and then get them tattooed cosmetically – not at a regular tattoo parlor. 🙂 Though I’ve heard it’s temporarily very painful (just like getting any tattoo), it’s very natural-looking and only requires a fill-in as desired every few years when the color fades a bit. Though this option isn’t for everyone, I think it’s a wonderful option if you have a special circumstance.
Benefit Brow Bar
A few weeks ago my mom and I stumbled across the Benefit Brow Bar inside of a brand new Belk department store here in town while we were Black Friday shopping, and since my brows desperately needed some professional TLC I made an appointment for the next day (they’re quite popular, so getting in that day wasn’t possible).
The employee who works at this particular Brow Bar has been in the business for five years and was so incredibly knowledgeable about exactly how to shape my brows that would best frame my face. She instructed me where I needed to allow my brows to grow a bit, and then she mapped my brows to guide her before she waxed. This particular Brow Bar waxes in four steps, which helps to ensure a better arch.
I was so impressed with the service that I made an appointment to go back 12 days later. After my eyebrows were finished being touched up each of the two times, another kind employee gave me a complimentary makeover that would highlight my new brows. Though I had the option to purchase many of the products used on my face, there was no pressure to make any additional purchases. I was excited to purchase a gorgeous new lip color and receive a complimentary sample of their new eyelash primer.
They made a loyal customer out of me, and I’ll be sure to visit each time I’m home in Alabama visiting my family. Feel free to click here to read more about their mapping services and to find a location near you. {By the way, this is in no way sponsored information. I truly love the Brow Bar!}
Let’s chat!
What does your eyebrow maintenance consist of? What’s your favorite method for getting them professionally done?
Hi! I’m Erica, and I absolutely adore sharing my life on this website with you! I come here almost daily to blab about all of the things related to being a regular wife and mother in today’s ever-evolving society. I share about our new home, what’s on our kitchen table, what we’re hanging in our closets, where we’re traveling to next, my crazy 5 a.m. work outs, how I make time for girlfriends, our faith, and much more. We always have a lot of balls in the air and somewhat thrive on the chaos. I believe in the power of story-telling as a form of inspiration and entertainment, so I’m here to do both! I was born and raised in north Alabama and recently re-planted roots here again after my husband transitioned out of the Army (he is now in the Reserve and it’s going so well!) I’m a super proud mom to three little girls (ages 7, 4, and 1) who seem to be the stars of the show around here (for good reason – they’re pretty great!) I’m so glad you found me and are here reading! I hope we can get to know each other here on the blog as well as Facebook and/or Instagram. xoxo
